People fought the British for independence from the king, but not for freedom for women and slaves. I'm glad my ancestors fought in the Revolution, but we have to do better than they and the founding fathers did. Freedom from mysogyny! Freedom from racism! Freedom from authoritarians!
100% agree. There has always been a sickness in this country by not not confessing and then making amends that this country was founded on greed and exploitation. We practiced genocide on the Native Americans and built wealth through slavery. We have NEVER fully welcomed women as equals.
