Zelensky, Pres of Moldova and protesters across the U.S. punched Trump/Vance/Musk in the face
The Anger is Building!
Last week I updated my weekly “Profiles in Resistance” installment to refocus it on those who “punched Trump in the face.” The idea behind this was that “resistance” was not enough given the stakes. Instead, we need to be taking the fight to Trump each and every day with the goal being to grab headlines and knock Trump off his game.
This week I want to amplify more courageous people who took the fight not just to Trump but also JD Vance, Elon Musk and Republican members of Congress. I highlight these stories both because these people deserve the accolades and in the hope their actions will inspire others to stand up to Trump and the GOP.
1. Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky. Obviously Zelensky punched Trump and JD Vance so many times you could see JD’s mascara running! As I wrote about on Saturday, Zelensky again exposed Trump for the treasonous POS that he is. As a reminder, Trump was trying to shake down Zelensky to steal Ukraine’s natural resources in the middle of a war. As the NY Times reported last week, Trump wanted 50% of all Ukraine’s revenue from “minerals, gas and oil, as well as earnings from ports and other infrastructure.” In return, Trump offered ZERO security guarantees. This was simply a shakedown so that Trump’s wealthy oligarchs could make more money mining in Ukraine. While the deal evolved over the week, Trump still refused to extend security assurances—he simply wanted to make money from Ukraine’s resources. Zelensky’s refusal to agree to this shakedown is a big part of what fueled Trump and Vance’s anger. But Zelensky more than stood his ground—he punched Trump and Vance in the face on the world stage in the fight against tyranny.
2. Moldova’s President Maia Sandu. Moldova—like Ukraine—is a former part of the Soviet Union. After Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine in 2022, Russian leaders openly spoke of next taking Moldova. In fact, just last year, experts warned that “Putin and his mouthpieces have launched ‘information operations’ against Moldova resembling those conducted in the run-up of the invasion of Ukraine.” Despite the very real risk posed by Putin, Moldova’s President Maia Sandu was not silent. After Friday’s meeting between Zelensky and Trump, Sandu—who recently defeated a Kremlin backed candidate that saw Russia attempt to interfere in the election on his behalf—bravely and defiantly posted on Twitter, “The truth is simple. Russia invaded Ukraine. Russia is the aggressor. Ukraine defends its freedom—and ours. We stand with Ukraine.” By doing so she was landing a punch both against Trump—for his recent lies claiming that Ukraine started the war—and against Trump’s master, Putin.
3. The protesters in Vermont! After comrade Vance finished spewing Putin talking points to Zelensky, he headed on a ski vacation in Vermont. (Who gets a vacation after only 6 weeks into a new job?!) But the people of Vermont weren’t going to be silent. Local Vermont media outlets note that between one to three thousand people lined nearly a mile of the road to protest Vance’s arrival. Protesters told the press they were there to voice opposition to Trump’s massive cuts and layoffs as well as what happened between Trump/Vance and Zelensky. One protester summed it up this way, “Some of us are scared about losing Social Security or Medicaid or parks or having measles epidemics or climate change.” Another angry protester cited the Zelensky meeting, telling a reporter, “We are no longer the leader of the free world. What has happened? This is not the America we expect to be.” But the best part were the protest signs that read everything from “Trump Vance Betraying all that America Stands for” to “Vance is a Traitor—go ski in Russia” to the more blunt: “Our cows shit better ideas than Vance.”
4. Protesters at Tesla dealerships: Demonstrators gathered at more than 50 Tesla showrooms across the country on Saturday to protest Elon Musk and Trump’s massive cuts to programs and massive layoffs from the Social Security admin to Medicaid to the Veteran’s Administration. The protests are part of “Tesla Takedown,” which hopes to encourage stakeholders to “sell your Teslas, dump your stock, join the picket lines.” As CNN reported, more than 1,000 people showed up with signs in in Tucson, Arizona. Other notable protests included New York City where hundreds gathered holding signs that ranged from “Musk is stealing from you” to “Make no Mistake this a Coup” to one that summed up the bluntness of New Yorkers: “Fuck Elon.”
5. People power: There were various other protests over the weekend targeting the rogue MAGA regime that runs America. In Kansas, GOP Senator Roger Marshall held a town hall in a rural area of the state that Trump won with a whopping 85%. He was likely expecting a warm welcome-instead per the local paper, “As soon as Marshall entered the meeting, people booed and started peppering him with questions and comments about the war in Ukraine, the hollowing of federal agencies and rural health care.” The pushback got so intense that Marshall left early to boos and jeers by the audience. Other protests over the weekend include outside NY GOP Rep Mike Lawler’s office where hundreds demanded Trump/GOP keep their hands off Medicaid to protests in Detroit by labor leaders over Trump’s layoffs—especially those targeting the VA.
All of these people punched Trump and his allies in the face over the past few days. And as the weather warms up, you can expect even more protests to come! Trump has no idea what is heading his way!
When do we see THESE headlines?? TRUMP ARRESTED,MUSK DEPORTED
