There are times for thoughtful analysis. Then there are times I must go “full New Jersey.” And that is what is called for today after Donald Trump’s meeting Friday with Ukraine’s democratically elected President Volodymyr Zelensky.
To sum up: Trump is NOT an American President-he’s a treasonous POS. Period.
What happened in the Oval Office Friday with Trump attacking Zelensky in the service of Vladimir Putin is unlike anything we have ever seen. Trump spewing Putin's talking points to undermine Zelensky would’ve been like FDR openly mocking Winston Churchill using Hitler's talking points as the Nazis bombed London.
Trump was not working for us but for Putin. That is why Arizona Democratic Senator Mark Kelly—who served as a U.S. Navy combat pilot—summed it up this way after the meeting, “Putin and his cronies are probably popping champagne bottles right now.”
And they were as we learned later Friday. This was a huge win for Team Putin. There was J.D. Vance mocking President Biden for providing arms to Ukraine, saying we tried “the pathway of Joe Biden of thumping our chest,” but now we should attempt “diplomacy.”
Zelensky pushed back with facts noting that Putin had violated past ceasefires, “He broke the ceasefire, he killed our people, and he didn’t exchange prisoners.” That prompted Zelensky to ask, “What kind of diplomacy, JD, you are speaking about?”
That is when comrade Vance went full Putin, calling Zelensky “disrespectful” for refusing to bend a knee and highlighting Ukraine’s military weaknesses: “Right now, you guys are going around and forcing conscripts to the front lines because you have manpower problems.”
Vance then responded to Zelensky’s offer to visit Ukraine by accusing Zelensky of “bringing them [diplomats] on a propaganda tour.”
Trump then jumped into the fray—blaming Ukraine for the war: “You’ve allowed yourself to be in a very bad position.” (This mirrors Trump’s lies last week where he blamed Ukraine for starting the war.) In an effort to further undermine Ukraine on the verge of “peace talks” with Putin, the treasonous Trump added, “You’re not in a good position. You don’t have the cards right now.”
When Zelensky asked if he could answer the questions posed by clearly coordinated tag team of Trump and Vance, Trump responded: “No, no. You’ve done a lot of talking. Your country is in big trouble.”
NEVER before have we seen an American President side with a dictator like Putin over a democratic ally. Trump repeatedly bragged during the 2024 campaign that there would’ve never been a Ukraine war if he had been in the White House. On Friday we saw why: He would've forced Ukraine to surrender to his master Putin.
The reaction of word leaders to this meeting tells you all you need to know about what side Trump is on. After the meeting, a long list of western democracies reaffirmed on social media that they stand with Ukraine including France, Germany, Spain, Poland, Sweden and more.
The President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, despite knowing that Putin wants to retake her former Soviet Union nation, showed more courage than Trump posting after the meeting: “The truth is simple. Russia invaded Ukraine. Russia is the aggressor. Ukraine defends its freedom—and ours. We stand with Ukraine.”
Who was overjoyed with the meeting? Putin and his allies, of course.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova slammed Zelensky on Telegram writing, “How Trump and Vance exercised restraint and didn’t punch this scumbag is a miracle of restraint.”
Dmitry Medvedev — the former Russian prime minister and president and deputy chair of Russia’s Security Council wrote on Twitter, “The insolent pig finally got a proper slap down in the Oval Office.” Medvedev added, “The ungrateful swine got a hard slap in the face from the owners of the pigsty,” Medvedev wrote. “That’s a good thing, but not enough.” He then repeated the Putin lie likening the Ukrainian government to Nazis.
This is the second time in just a week that the Kremlin has publicly cheered Trump. The first came last week after Trump announced that Ukraine had started the war and called Zelensky a “dictator” despite being elected by the people. In response, we saw headlines that read, “Russia rejoices as Trump goes full Kremlin” with reporting that, “Champagne corks were popping in Moscow after U.S. President Donald Trump verbally flogged Ukraine and its leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday.” And Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov praised Trump as “the first, and so far, in my opinion, the only Western leader who has publicly and loudly” spoke of the role Ukraine in starting the war.
Just days ago, Trump opposed a UN resolution condemning Russia for attacking Ukraine on the 3rd anniversary of the war. That prompted Rep. Eric Swalwell to rightfully note on Twitter, “We used to fight the Axis of Evil. Now we’ve joined them.”
Trump’s love affair with Putin goes back years. We all recall Trump during the 2016 campaign against Hillary Clinton infamously declaring, “Russia, if you’re listening. I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing.” And Putin answered by helping Trump "win."
Hillary Clinton’s warning in the 2016 debate about Trump’s obvious loyalty to Putin echo truer now than ever. That is when Clinton called out Trump for being “Putin’s puppet,” telling Trump to his face, “You are willing to spout the Putin line, sign up for his wish list: break up NATO, do whatever he wants to do.”
Hillary was right. And in Trump’s first term as President, we saw Putin’s puppet in action. The most infamous example being at the 2018 Helsinki summit when Trump was asked if he believed his own intelligence agencies or the Russian president when it came to the allegations of meddling in the 2016 elections. Trump took Putin’s side on the world stage: "President Putin says it's not Russia. I don't see any reason why it would be." (That is what a puppet looks like.)
Trump is now picking up where he left off. And all I can say is the truth: Trump is not an American President- he’s a treasonous POS. Period.
I'm posting this all day everywhere: ... "The predator has proven over and over again he is not to be trusted honoring a deal... May Zelensky stand firm and walk away because that mineral deal you all think is a boon for him & the US is not .... trump will dishonor before the ink is dry. & give the minerals and Ukraine to putin on a gold platter.. I hope to god Zelensky understands this"
Trump did in fact get out of jail free … now he believes he is untouchable. And ignorant, too—how can he slump in his chair and not notice Elon’s fresh footprints on his nice white shirt?
