The Florida state representative of Jacksonville tore into Governor Ron DeSantis (R) by accusing him of fomenting the racially-motivated shooting in her district that left three Black people dead over the weekend: ‘The Governor Has Blood On His Hands’

DeSantis is DeSpicable and a DeSaster, but is he any different from any red state Republican governor right now? Most of them seem to be hell bent on making their failed, third world shitholes safe for bigots with easy access to military weaponry. They don't even seem to care when one of Trump's deranged MAGA Cristo-fascists take out some white people as long as they also kill some brown people at the same time. No matter what they and their enablers think, this is not sustainable. Floriduh depends on tourist dollars. Will families continue to flock to Disney, the other theme parks or the beaches if gun violence escalates? How about the impact of climate change? More than a few reports have emerged of the intensity of the heat at Disney World because there is so little green space to dissipate the heat of the sun. And as the ocean's rise, how much longer will people be able to go to South Beach without their hip waders?

Bigotry, hate and guns in an environment impacted by climate change is a toxic brew. DeSantis and his fellow travelers are going to find out what happens when you f'k around for too long.

The 674 days I have left here feel like torture.

I will be the last to defend Floriduh, but the hyper focus on this state ignores 400+ years of white supremacist domestic terrorism, including blue states without NAACP warnings, open carry and Stand Your Ground laws.

“Fun” fun fact: northern blue New Jersey has the highest white supremacist threat. The Buffalo massacre happened next door in New York. Blue California just saw a mother of 6 gunned down for flying a pride flag in front of her store…..

How does Northern NJ have the highest white supremacist threat? Can you supply a link to back that up? Thanks

I did not mean, “northern New Jersey” as in the north part of the state. I was emphasizing that it is a northern state, as is New York where the Buffalo massacre occurred. We aren’t telling the truth when we hyper focus on Floriduh, as though the threat is somehow limited to this state or that there isn’t a white supremacist threat nationwide.

Okay now I see your point. It is everywhere.

The Morristown, NJ Tea Party chapter was a nexus of hate group activity back in the day, and that's something I know from personal experience. Corrupt cop's wife steering a mentally ill man into filing malicious criminal charges. And among the few who recognized the problem nobody cared to put a stop to it, so here we are, with a rising bodycount.

I did not mean “northern New Jersey” and to my knowledge, nothing has changed since 2020. Why would it? How do you assess that Floriduh is leading the pack? What metric do you use for that? The headlines? We really need to quantify this thing. Floriduh is no doubt horrific, but so are other places.

Dean, I will be frank with you here--there will be no step-up by Gov DeSantis, and let me tell you why. I support a very low-key, open source but effective anti-fascist organization. And Ron DeSantis--even more regularly than Trump--is THE go-to guy for fascist/nazi "dog whistling." Our analysts have confirmed this over time. I don't say this rhetorically--it's a fact. There will be NO further denunciation. His use of the word "unacceptable" was only to appease still-well-meaning-but-oblivious, white, moderate Republicans who are still duped by him. That's all it was. He THRIVES on the supremacist community--it's not an accident or mere by-product of his policies. There will be more dog-whistling, interspersed with "thoughts & prayers," and "unacceptable;" not one bit more.

Dean and Chandra….

Somehow you are both correct, and even right to the degree that difference with distinction will allow.

As a Floridian who travels a great deal, here is how I see it.

Florida gets a lot of unnecessary stinkiocity framed around it. Just as mouth breathing MAGA base supporters are overlooked as just being useful tools, and face eating tigers, and actually have more in common with other marginalized groups. Look at affordable healthcare for example.

Rhonda Santis barely won his first election in Florida. It’s unfortunate this fact is distracted or squelched out by the loudest of racist here, and amplified by the complacent complicity of our current racist Governor.

The distinction I referred to earlier is comparing how the Governor of New York responded to a racist motivated shooting. Hochul called a spade a spade, where as Rhonda’s complacency and need to keep his base voters fomented has to both-sides his remarks cocktail, using false equivalence as the main elixir.

But the bottom line folks, is that violent racist behavior exist all around this country, even in enclaves you would least expect it. The rise in this form of white super-racist domestic terrorism has been a nationwide trend since 911 forced increased significant action in redirecting resources to the global war on “Arab” (other brown people) terrorism. The FBI, even before the questionable forming of Homeland Security, has been trying to draw attention to this. Apparently there aren’t enough resources to fight Arab terrorist and Nazis at the same time. Domestic and foreign terrorism gets somehow blended to distraction, enough so that the true threats continue to go undetected. Very dangerous, as the slow moving coup d’etat continues, and more domestic terrorism is planned similar to 6 January and in Michigan.

Do your own research to confirm this.

It’s an uncomfortable topic.

But it makes sense when we understand the history of these United States.

It's terrifying😕 What's worse is that no one is stopping them. Mike Flynn had his Christo fascist gathering in Vegas this weekend. He's been running a massive psy op. This doesn't end well.

And the taxpayers are still providing him with a 6 figure pension. He should be recalled and court martialled.

Thanks for the Michael Phlegm activity alert! Surprised he had the time in Vegas, considering he’s been testifying before a grand jury in Atlanta. Then again, lying is an effortless activity. You also remind me that if only what happens in Vegas would stay there. At least in his instance. I actually like Vegas.

I agree with all that you wrote. The worst systemic racism that I ever observed was inside the largest department at a northern major public research university. Zero Black faculty, staff or students, including out of a PhD population of 147. I contrast that to the University of Florida where I was employed for nearly two decades with a president that acknowledged its long racist history and employed Black people from the lowest to the highest levels. Northern systemic racism is alive and well, as was the slave trade up there. The absence of Black people in important places also says a lot.

I understand what you are saying.

Not to mention, Florida has a lot of transplanted and snowbird northerners down here.

A lot.

Many with bags of money.

Shit, I wish I had bags of money. Can you introduce me to some of those types? 🤣😂I came here in 1999. Floriduh is where educated, intelligent women’s careers go to die and make you poor. There is a culture of poverty here and employers don’t pay shit. I will be heading back to MA in 2025 and it can’t come soon enough. No place like home where I was born and raised to adulthood and earned my degrees.

Money. Its everywhere in Florida, just listen. Miami is as good a starting point as any.

Do not be surprised if some of that dough puts its current mayor in office to replace Rhonda.

So depressing and infuriating...DeSantis should be jailed for anti-democratic laws along with Abbott in Texas...why aren't they being reined in by the DOJ?
