The mainstream media is 1) incompetent, 2) afraid that Trump will come after them, and 3) after the almighty dollar above all else. Journalism and real reporting be damned. It's how things are now.

The mainstream media is corporate and will do nothing to upset corporate power. In the old days, news programs were never intended to be profitable. They always lost money. And reporters actually cared about the accuracy of their reporting. Now it's a matter of message control, in other words, propaganda.

When the News Division got shoved under the Entertainment Division of the major networks and the Fairness Doctrine was obliterated, that’s when our national news really began rolling downhill fast.

MSM is NOT incompetent. They know exactly what they are doing and saying. But Fox “News” has proven for years that lies, fear, and hatred make more money than the truth, concern, or compassion. Billionaires bought these news sources specifically to cash in.

Yes, I agree. But The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Los Angeles Times are just as guilty of owner control and censorship of their very able news departments. This failure of journalism is unspeakable. Fox 'reporters' and 'anchors', on the other hand, are utterly incompetent (or competent given their mission); that's why they were hired.

I completely agree. I’ve pretty much given up on Washington Week but decided to watch it last night. They reported that it was an ISIS attack and NO MENTION that he was an Army veteran from Texas! This domestic terrorism is from MAGA. Why won’t they report it accurately???

This is a perfect article. I had been thinking the same thing. When someone is telling others to purge DC ( and likely the country) of Democrats, that is a threat. And it comes right from the top of the Republican party. This is a "wake-up" call for sure and so glad you called out the media for downplaying it.

I couldn't agree more that white terrorists need to be labeled and treated as what they are: terrorists! Being white isn't special. It's just a state of being just like any other state of being (dark skin, different religion, etc). It strikes me that people who are or have been in the military have better access to information on how to make bombs or how to commit terrorist acts, especially if they have served in areas where there are terrorists. I will repeat: being white isn't special, and doesn't deserve different treatment.

I am so sick. My mind cannot compute. I am a proud once-a-Marine, always-a-Marine veteran of 8 “best of times/worst of times” years a lifetime ago. To be called upon by a fellow serviceman to purge fellow Americans?! How incredibly sad and enraging at the same time. Seriously, sometimes I’m glad I’m old. We have always had issues, but this shit is beyond the Pale. I just can’t even. SMH. Plop - there it went on the floor again, following my jaw.

You honestly think that the NYT's or the Washedup Post have the nerve or journalistic integrity to even consider using the word "MAGA terrorist" in a headline or even buried at the bottom of an article? They would be shut down by Trump and sued into oblivion. Substack will likely become the heir to the title of "the 4th estate."

Divisive rhetoric has always been aimed at members of the military. The acts of the veteran in New Orleans and the active service member in Las Vegas should be a wakeup call for the military, veteran organizations and the public. We send our voluntary members of the military off to do the dirty work most of us don't want to know about. They are trained to do warfare. How well do we support their health (physical, mental, social, financial). I have family and friends who have served and some who continue to do so in various capacities. I check in with them regularly. However we may never know what personal demons they are wrestling with until it's too late because of the way our society stigmatizes people socially and financially whenever they seek any kind of support. It makes people vulnerable to propaganda and predators. We will not survive as a society until we find ways to better support the wellbeing of people and also root out the political, financial, emotional and psychological predators who want people to live in fear and uncertainty.

Absolutely, I have mentioned that in my comments on several sites that I interact with. Fox has been on every TV in every shared space on every military base all over the world for at least the past 2-3 decades!!! Is it any wonder many of our service members have been brainwashed & radicalized?

The upper brass are at fault for this. Of course they can’t police what the military members choose to watch or listen to on their personal devices, but they can control what is shown in the public/shared spaces.

They can listen to/watch whatever they want on their personal devices, on their personal time; but Fox should not be playing 24/7 in the public or shared spaces on military bases. It’s insanity to allow that. If I was in the military, I wouldn’t want to have to be subjected to that propaganda & lies everywhere I might be required to be on duty.
