That man is pure evil.

The stories like this one, are entering the disinformation space and being amplified for the purpose of getting people to be suspicious of non whites.

Trump's racism in his blathering lies about immigration is so blatant. That debate mods don't fact-check him just legitimizes his rhetoric.

Immigrants who brave coming to the US are honorable people working to make better lives for their families and the whole United States.

The racism of that man has no boundaries. Deranged and dangerous!

"Haitians eating pets" is Trump's new caravan bullsh*t story. His supporters are not only morons they are dangerous morons. The crazier Trump gets the more unstable they become!

That's why I love wearing this "Keep the immigrants, deport the racists" shirt 👇

At least, they DID fact-check him at the debate, and left him floundering as to what evidence he had besides "I read it on the Internet".

Turns out it comes from a Neo-Nazi group in Springfield called "Blood Tribe" who got all butthurt after the City Council threw them out of a meeting after demanding an ordinance to prohibit Haitian immigrants from settling there....

Further to this—Vance admitted over the weekend, on television, that Haitian immigrants eating pets was a filthy lie, but justified it by blathering “If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people, then that's what I'm going to do.”

Suddenly, the veracity of HILLBILLY FANTASY—er, "ELEGY" looks more than a little suspect. Is this REALLY the quality of person we want one irregular, bloated heartbeat away from the Presidency...?

Years ago, when republicans were saying that Mexican immigrants should "self deport", my husband made a sign that said "GSBs should self-deport!" (GSB = Greedy Selfish Bastard.) We shared it with Beto O'Rourke, who was our congressman at the time, and he loved it.

This bullshit may end up costing Trump Florida and ending the leadership hopes of Rick Scott. There are thousands of Haitian Americans in Florida, and they will be pissed.

I live in Florida, surrounded by MAGA neighbors. They tolerate me as a “feminist type liberal” because I am also a widowed, childless cat lady. I sense their pity, which is revolting. I am afraid of violence erupting here in Florida.

Win or lose, Trump is trouble for us all.

Expand full comment

To me it's really sad when people like that pity truly good people - like a widowed, childless cat lady…

I need some crocodile tears emojis… Rick Scott is so despicable, he deserves to be shoved out of leadership. And oh, by the way, he's also been convicted of Medicare fraud.

I would if I could, but I live in Texas (and I don't believe in cheating, plus I wouldn't choose to move to Florida, even to vote for a very good candidate.)

Ditto!

Expand full comment

Is Texas any better? Politically they seem about the same, both led by some horrible people. Texas does have a number of very good Democratic politicians, I'll give you that. And they will need your vote every bit as much as any Floridian politician.

Expand full comment

No it's not. We do have some excellent Democratic politicians. From what some others have said, more of the big cities are trending blue, like Dallas and Fort Worth. El Paso, Houston, San Antonio and Austin already are. The biggest problem will probably be gerrymandering.

If both Trump and Rick Scott lose their election in Florida it will be good for the people of the state.

Throw him in jail with a gag...hate that disgusting cruel sick inhumane dot of a man who is allowed to do this to many innocent good people...he is a racist rapist and a danger to us...

Cut his tongue out, chop off his Tweeting hand, and castrate him so we can't reproduce any more!

I'm so old-fashioned.... 😇

Expand full comment

I'm old-fashioned with you. I agree completely. Hopefully even if he's not castrated he won't reproduce any more because Melania sure won't participate in that, and neither would any sane woman.

Expand full comment

Let’s not assign virtue to Melania. She’s there for some reason and people treat her like she’s a victim. She’s nothing more than a gold digger who got more than she bargained for.

Expand full comment

I did not intend to assign any virtue to Melania. The point I wanted to make is that if she won't hold hands with him, she's sure not going to let him at her sexually. Having said that, I see why you interpreted what I said as assigning virtue. I don't see her as a victim at all. And I agree with you that she is just a gold digger, who is getting the payback for being one.

I somehow doubt he’s going to be reproducing.

Trump and MAGA are total racist? Say it ain’t so.

I have been reading that some MAGAs are pissed claiming that just because they love and support Trump doesn’t mean they are racist.

Hmmm. I’m not sure I understand that mental gymnastics. Oh I understand the logic, like if all widgets are gadgets doesn’t mean all gadgets are widgets. Yep, basic logic can be used to support total bullshit lies. Anyone supporting a big bigot for election is supporting bigotry and therefore a bigot themselves.

Period. End of story.

I am extremely fortunate to have a government subsidized apartment in a Boston suburb. When I first moved in the building was designated for the elderly and disabled, but has begun opening up to immigrants, many from Haiti. They are excellent neighbors and my beloved cat is perfectly safe.

My Haitian neighbor across the hall discussed tRump with me back when he was in the first year of his horrible presidency and after I said that I hated him, my neighbor said "I don't hate him, I have seen much worse in Haiti." I'll have to ask him if he still feels that way.

My social worker is also from Haiti, and I have never had a more caring and trustworthy person in my corner. Most of my caseworkers are exhausted and frustrated, and stopped caring years ago. Not this young woman! She offered services I didn't know existed, and I know she will follow through to the best of her abilities.

Another immigrant in my building - this one from South America - carries my packages from the mail room to my door at the back end of the building.

I'll keep the immigrants and reject the racists.

Perhaps I'm being naive, nut I can't help but think -- hope may be the right word -- that Trump's incendiary rhetoric will have the opposite effect among the hard-working neighbors of all those legal HaHaitian immigrants, encouraging them to vote against Trump and Republicans up and dow the ballot because of these lies.

I’m so exhausted. I’m an American abroad. The positive with the debate is that many colleagues and acquaintances are impressed with Harris. But it’s been two days and if I have to answer/explain to one more Swede about the eating dogs thing, I may rip my own ears off. I thought it was mortifying when Bush was president. But that was a walk in the fucking park compared to trying to answer why so many Americans are stupid enough to support Sweet Potato Hitler.

I live in The Netherlands and feel like you do. I remember being stopped in the streets here when people would hear my American english by people who wanted to know why I had elected Dubya Bush. I explained that I had not voted for him and was right there with them wondering how in the heck he got elected. Later, Obama was elected and people were stopping me in the streets to tell me how happy they were with Obama. Universal hatred for tRUMP … and ridicule as well … has changed now because of his weird ravings about ridiculous things but most of all his “friendship” with Orban and Putin. We don’t want a boots on the ground war here in Holland. Of course. But while they do seem to love Harris reservedly, they do understand that she is the only choice. As her momentum grows in the USA … I think it will also grow here.

He targets people. His “audience” focuses on that which allows him to do whatever he really wants to do unobserved. The “audience’s” acceptance has resulted in refusal to see, in this case, Haitians as human beings, and threats of bombing and threats of harm.

Trump loves chaos and destabilization. I don’t know if that’s how his “audience” lives but that’s not how I want to live.

The situation with the Haitians in Springfield is so distressing. I just cannot understand being motivated by hate. Anger I get. I was raised to believe that when I reached adulthood, anger was a privilege. Fortunately I did learn better. But hatred? Violence? I don't understand either of those. These people want to have everything both ways: hating and vilifying people who are doing jobs that are "beneath" them, and yet being angry if they aren't there doing those jobs. I so wish that Kamala Harris's joy and positivity would get through to these people. I can dream, can't I?

These folks controlling the Trump puppet that the American people are witnessing daily are holding their collective breath that Trump can slip into the presidency. After that, who cares about the old fart? They’ll make him king, let him do as he likes so they can get to work on the assignment they are charged with, Project 2525.

Haitians have long been demonized...first for being the Western Hemisphere's second independent republic, and being run by those horrible black people who worshipped voodoo.

Then it was a wholly-owned subsidiary of the United Fruit Company, run by the US Marines.

Then it was run by Papa Doc Duvalier and his Tonton Macoutes.

Then by Baby Doc Duvalier.

Then it was responsible for AIDS, along with those horrible gay people.

Then it was wrecked by hurricanes and earthquakes.

And the people live in dreadful poverty, because they're black. They should have chosen to be white, of course.

They're almost as good a fake enemy as North Vietnam back in the 1960s. Or the hippies. Or the Beatles. Remember Detroit having a "Committee to Stamp Out the Beatles?"

Ringo Starr quipped, "We have a Committee to Stamp Out Detroit." Ringo won.

Before that, it was that horrible Elvis Presley, shaking his hips on TV.

And the insidious menace of worldwide Communism. Well, that's always been with us...

And so on.
