We know that Trump will exit the courtroom every day to find a phalanx of reporters waiting to transcribe his every utterance. The country would be well served if, for once, the elite political press restrained themselves and didn't show up. I know it's likely far too much to ask, but imagine his reaction if he were to emerge and find nobody waiting, no cameras, no nothing. It might just save democracy.

Trump has made a career off of cheating in taxes, business, not paying vendors and workers, avoiding settling lawsuits but eager to sue others, lying, discriminating against black tenants, and of course, avoiding the law. To think this is the best the GOP can come up with is beyond understanding and logic.
This is why the trials must be televised! I agree the President must stay away from the trial. It only gives trump something to point at to substantiate his claims.

I'm not sure I realized that DOJ had been involved in this, but what is happening now is totally the state of NY - both the indictment and the trial - and totally out of the purview of Joe Biden, That, to me, is a point that should be emphasized by the Dems.
If Biden himself wants to "stay out of it" all he really has to do is keep pointing out that neither he nor DOJ has anything to do with this case.
Democrats in CONGRESS can address the lies more fully. As well they should. Possibly his campaign as well, or parts of it. For example the DNC or any number of Democratic media could post ads pointing out the idiocy of the "weaponizing" argument. All Biden has to say is that he approves this message.
