‘He [Walz] concluded with this line, to Vance: “I just have a few simple words. Thank you for your service and sacrifice.”’

Now THAT is how you do it: You don’t denigrate another veteran’s service record, you thank them for their service — and you MOVE. ON.

Question is…will JDV take the hint? 🤔

They cannot admit wrongdoing ever. Must be nice to be so perfect🙄

Seriously? Do you think they have enough class or integrity to do what's right? HA. They're "base" loves watching these losers try and denigrate others. It's like their own personal "reality" TV.

As a Minnesota resident, a transgender citizen, and an honorably discharged military veteran, I could not be more proud that Tim Walz is my governor and our next vice president. The U.S. is lucky to have people like him in leadership positions. Tim Walz has done more for this nation than Trump, Vance, and all their republican lackeys combined. Gov. Walz is a good, decent, honorable man who will serve our country well as vice president. I am excited about voting for him and VP Harris on November 5th.

You just need to see through the MAGA propaganda to see that the clumsy claims made against Walz , are just more lies made against an honorable man. They don't know how to handle opponents that are capable, dedicated public servants, with youth on their side. ( yes youth, the other guy is 77 years old)

Thank you for writing this. I'm always looking for facts I can use against the people commenting on other sites about what a "traitor" Gov. Walz is, stolen valor, etc. I didn't know about all his efforts helping troops during his time in Congress. I'm really glad to know this.

Senator Tom Cotton was never any Army Ranger and lied about being one. George w. Bush joined the Texas Air National Guard to avoid Viet Nam draft then skipped numerous drill weekends and was grounded from flying because he skipped the required annual Flight Surgeon Flight physical lying by saying he was waiting for his own Primary care Doc to do it, that is not how it works!!! A military trained Flight Surgeon doc does the flight physical. GW Bush said he left reserve duty early to go to a Harvard grad school program, that is the opposite of most reservists who need the extra Reserve income which is just 2 days a month to go to school. GW Bush had a 6 year commitment but left after 5 and his drill record showing all his missed weekend drills is Public record. I am baffled that these Republicans project their own atrocious poor service histories onto Democrats who honorably served. The conduct of JD Vance, Tom Cotton is despicable and the failure of GW Bush to step up and denounce the “swiftboating” attacks on John Kerry by his campaign is cowardice.

I am so proud to have Governor Walz as our VP candidate for Harris. I am happy to have him as a veteran like myself. He is a good man and I thank him for his service to our country and I am grateful for his continued support to all the families in Minnesota especially the children. He will continue to do great things for our country.

Well said, Dean. I do have a question: you said Walz' retirement was effective in May 2006 but his unit received orders to Iraq in July, 2005. Did you mean that his retirement took effect a couple of months after he applied, in 2005? I saw a contrast of the awards Walz receive for his service compared to what Vance received - no comparison there, either. I'm glad to see a real patriot, one who knows and understands public service in the VP slot for the Dems.

Expand full comment

Oops that was a typo- I fixed it. Thanks he retired effective May 2005.

Expand full comment

I read the unit received Iraq orders - that they may have to deploy in the next two years and did deploy one year after Walz retired.

Expand full comment

Terry , I think what Dean said was that the unit was deployed about 3 months after Walz retired. But the two years part is correct.

Another post (can’t remember where) that said the unit didn’t deploy until the next year. Whichever, Walz is a very honorable man and JD isn’t 😉😉

He is VP candidate for a person who supports genocide and won't even listen to anyone who'l disagrees. His current president is enabling genocide. But that's nothing to do with him?

I'm sorry, but I had no idea about what you said. I don't believe that Kamala Harris supports genocide, and I'm not sure Joe Biden does, either. He has a very small-eyed needle to thread with Israel, diplomatically. I don't understand all that's going on over there, but what I do know is that we have pledged to support Israel, AND we have no control over what they are doing. I was upset when Biden threatened to withhold bombs, but then didn't. BTW, being unaware of what you are talking about doesn't make me stupid. I would appreciate it if you would not treat me as if I were stupid. Thank you.

Thank you, Dean, for this more detailed explanation than is usually found in the media. Being a 22 year retired active duty Navy officer with prior enlisted service and Air Force service, I am quite familiar with all the service branches. It pains me but doesn’t surprise me to hear Vance insulting Gov. Walz with his attempted “Swift Boating” tactics like done to Senator Kerry years ago because he dared to speak against the Vietnam War.

Dump and Vance would be wise to discontinue talking about this subject. I know, that's asking a lot! I'm not the only one who thinks of dump's remarks regarding John McCain or about his bonespurs or how avoiding std's was his Vietnam or how he accepted a purple heart medal from a real veteran. Sure, let's talk about "stolen valor" and one year doing office work!!
