It looks like the MAGAs are going to have total control of the federal government. That calls us to make sure that the blue states are prepared to Trump proof themselves and their citizens (all of them, even those w/o documentation). It will still be ugly for us, Trump's economic malfeasance will drive prices of everything thru the roof, but we'll get thru it. Life in the red states will be hell. Women will die for lack of healthcare. Children will die for lack of food and vaccinations. Meth and Oxy will be the coin of the realm. Our job is to help those who come to us as refugees, and to make god damn sure that everyone whose life has turned to shit knows that this was done at the hands of Republicans, not Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, brown people, Muslims or antifa.

The Trumplican people will lie and deny any responsibility at all. They will blame the “Latino thugs” etc etc etc!

My city is about 85% Latino, and they are the best people. They are what make our city great.

Please add the billionaires who bought these elections to your list. IMO the people who bought into all the advertising and vileness will be getting what they deserve. I wonder if it will wake them up? The rest of us really do need to stick together.

Eventually they will turn on each other because they won’t be willing to share the power they want so desperately. We will be the beneficiaries of that.

We must allow ourselves some space to decompress and care for our mental, as well as physical, health.

I agree with Dean that resistance begins on Monday. Which Monday doesn’t matter as long as it’s in time to help.

I’m 84, and if I spend my last breath fighting for democracy, so be it. I’ve seen fascism before, and it’s really ugly. The only way out is through, we’ll get there, God willing. We just have to keep on keeping on.

It will be interesting to see if they do turn on each other. I'm 79 and I know I need decompression time. Given my life history, it's easy to recognize trauma. I'm sorry you've had to experience fascism. The only experience I've had is living with a father who lost 38 close relatives to the concentration camps in WWII. Living on the border with Mexico, I wonder how badly the deportations will affect our city. I'm with you about keeping on keeping on.

I was a child, born 18 months before the US entered WW II, so I only have vague memories of overheard conversations between my parents and other adults, but I clearly remember a photo on the front page of the newspaper when one of the concentration camps was liberated. The people looked like living skeletons. Imagining what they had experienced gave me nightmares for many years.

What a horrible thing for a young child to see! Jacob Soboroff has done a lot of research and made a film about the detention camps here in Texas, and they don't sound like they were much better than the ones in WWII in Germany.

I tabled for the Democrats at my poll for 13 hours in Montgomery County, PA. I had a great feeling by the time everything closed. I have been heartbroken since Wednesday AM. Other people on my Democratic Committee, including myself, can't even talk to their parents. My parents seem to think Trump is god. I don't think I have ever been this depressed/hopeless in my life.

I thought that 2004 election night was bad, but this is 10X worse.

I live in Florida and have been a devoted truth seeker (Democrat )for all of my life. Despite the massive disgust I experienced on election night, I have been hardened like steel because of the state I live in.

for eight years now, I’ve been warning people that Florida is ground zero for MAGAts .

they are looking to turn United States into Florida, and this election is their wet dream. Deep down I relish fighting fascists, and I’m not gonna stop now because they’ve been given the keys to the Kingdom…… again.

Hi Lisa, nice to meet you online. I’m sorry to hear that you live in Florida because that must be the worst state to ever try to… Oh shit, never mind.

I’m in wealthy. Hobe Sound, and I think you know what that means. 🤐

As I wrote before, I should not have been surprised by this, but I am surprised at the number of women who continue to be offset by young and old alpha males.

Oh well, drop me a line if you ever need advice or ‘therapy’. Mike 8868 SE Hobe Ridge Ave, Hobe Sound 561)685-8474

PS-the one piece of solace that I keep falling back on is:

no matter how bad this is, or could get. I thank God Almighty that I’m not one of them.

My apologies to God since She knows I’m not a strict believer

You will recall the resistance that we put up against Nixon, and brought him down. Much of the strength of that resistance was fueled by the fact that we were being drafted and sent to Vietnam as cannon fodder in an unjust and immoral ear. Well mass deportation and domestic repression be enough to get us back in the streets?

I just finally looked at the complete election results and feel like I got hit in the stomach with all the wind knocked right out of me. It feels like going thru the stages of grief. First the shock, not really feeling anything, and then the crashing waves start coming as the reality starts getting thru. I think local support groups would be helpful. What everybody should do is call the White House switchboard and demand that Biden declare a state of emergency and not hand over power to Donald Trump who will be America's Hitler. Donald Trump is going to have people arrested who have spoken out against him or he might have them put before firing squads. there is not going to be another election after Donald Trump takes power. Donald Trump and Steve Bannon are blood thirsty sickos who are going to have a blast a oppressing and crushing the American people. Biden should put a stop to this to protect the American people but he's not doing it because he's a coward and a disgrace. The American people are not even Marching In the Street saying no to Fascism, we're just saying America's Hitler won the election, oh well maybe we'll be okay. We're not going to be okay. the time to stop Hitler was before he came into power but the German government just surrendered because he won an election. Trump he is a threat to the lives in Liberty of all Americans and to the world. And he must be stopped now.

I'm in the same boat. However, I've done some research on Panama, and learned that the medical care there is very good, as well as totally affordable. Panama City, in particular, has excellent medical facilities. The city itself doesn't appeal to me, but there are communities nearby that look nice. Boquete has an American ex-pat community, so the language barrier isn't a huge problem.

Canada is the obvious best option. It's not an easy one, but a friend has done some research and tells me it's not impossible, either. Medical care is pretty good and, aside from Quebec, the language is no problem.

The search goes on.

Very interesting about Panama. I'll have to keep that under consideration. The one thing I remember from Panama City is the building called "the Comb-over" building, which I think may be a trump building. I sure wouldn't want to have to look at that every day. I've moved across the country twice as an adult, and I'm not sure I have another major move in me.

Putin just publicly declared the beginning of a “New World Order.” Putin’s declaration of a “New World Order“ should send SHIVERS down Evangelical’s spines!

Evangelicals voted in HUGE numbers for Trump. They are convinced Trump is “anointed” by God to be president. However, Trump and Putin have a very “interesting relationship.”

This relationship and Putin’s declaration of a “NEW WORLD ORDER” may be something Evangelicals want to think about because one of the signs which signals the “beginning of the end” is the creation of a “New World Order.”

I don't think that will bother the Evangelicals. Don't forget that they all think they're going to be swept up in "The Rapture" when the end is near.

Gay marriage, trans rights, public education, birth control, all things they target. Privatizing social security, eliminating food programs for children, making America a Christian nation, things they strive to achieve. And 70 million suckers voted for him to do it. Latinos voted for massive deportations, poor people voted for tax cuts for the wealthy, women voted to have less body autonomy, the list goes on for how this country voted against it's own best interest. Do they look forward to what comes next? I don't.

Dean your sister tells us how to relax in a few minutes. It works, I know, I do it and I am also a psychologist. So then why should we all wait until Monday? Just keep taking deep breaths every couple of hours, and find time for hobbies and interests as well, like sports, music or whatever else you enjoy. Intersperse this with your focus on the task at hand. And while you are at it, check my Substack at Bruce Hutchison PhD to learn how emotions are a large part of the problem and how they can be managed and regulated.

Bitterness. Anger. Disappointment. Sadness.

These are some of the things I am feeling in my heart, as I am processing this past election, and the result that this ...this....monster, will once more be in the White House.

Why am I feeling this way? I have seen, read, and heard of all the things Trump has said and done, prior to his first term, during his first term, and following his time in office, acting and venting, with cruelty, hatred, racism, sexism, and only God knows what else, in his soul, with not one iota of humanity, humility, love, or compassion within him.

Knowing that several of my church friends voted for this man, and they, too, know all of his antics and menace. It makes me wonder: Do they understand what they have done by voting for this man? Do they even care?

Knowing that some of my family members, including both of my sisters, supported this man, the same questions apply to them, as well.

I do not know if I can attend church this Sunday, having to face my friends about this. They believe that Trump is God's chosen one, yet it disgusts me when they sing Trump's praises, as though he can do no wrong, while condemning President Biden and the Democrats, thinking that they can do no right. Though I have generally kept silent when politics are discussed in our Sunday school classroom, my concern is that, if I go, I will wind up doing more than just speaking my mind. I love my church friends, they are fine people, but I cannot agree with their political views. It makes me feel that there is more than just a difference in opinion, it is a difference in values and morality.

And when there is such a difference, how can there ever be a connection?

I have no clue.

God help us all.
