If only wealthy Americans would donate millions to public works and charities to strengthen the economy instead of pitching millions to the hole of campaigns that burn thru it like toilet paper.

It's not just NY Times but I hold them to a higher standard!!

As you should. But boy theyve really changed since I was a girl growing up in the city.

Keep holding them to that higher standard and calling them out when they veer fascist. Their bias for trump is why I canceled. But thankfully you are keeping an eye on them. Someone has to! And Im too frigging old. 🫤

I still subscribe to WAPO but scroll past the one idiotic maga op-ed per day. 🙄 Their headlines are sometimes obvious 🤬

"Media like the kind Thom Hartmann, Steve Schmidt, Mary Trump, Bandy Lee, Dean Obeidallah and many others are currently putting out there is media worth watching, because unlike most MSM, they propose real solutions to real problems. They see a problem, they clearly explain the problem and tell you logically what they believe needs to happen to fix the problem." https://samray.substack.com/p/how-the-news-is-psychologically-broken

Thank you Dean for all you do. If you ever have a narcissism spectrum question you haven't heard a good answer to, please fell free to ask.

To be fair, Sam Ray, msnbc has a great lineup that looks like actual America. They do an outstanding job and thats where I discovered Dean Obeidallah as he’s a frequent guest.

Don't disagree at all DeeDee. I love several of their people. They seem to be the one exception although they also mostly avoid discussing obvious psychological issues like all the other MSM channels. I probably saw Dean Obeidallah there first as well.

Nicolle Wallace and Charlie Sykes are almost my emotional support former GOP. Dean's podcast is 👍 too.

Expand full comment

Two of my favorites too bc they can explain the inner workings of the GOP.

I love Nicolle because she's so sweet and then she gets mad! Charlie helps remind me I'm not the crazy one 😉

I always wondered why I connected with Nicolle then found out she went to a rival high school, so we grew up near each other and I knew a fair amount of reasonable GOP like her in our area. Charlie just seems like a nice man.

I think it’s interesting that when talking about the money he’s spent and it going to defending his crimes, when it’s said it could’ve been going to attacking other republican candidates or Biden, the option of him spending it on ads touting his accomplishments or stand on the issues isn’t mentioned. Of course we all know why.

He was a TERRIBLE president and has NO PLAN for another term!!!

He's also a terrible person but he did expose the entire GOP for being nothing more than a white collar crime syndicate.

MAGA Haberman and Peter Baker can't stop making false equivalence between Hunter's problems and Trump's crimes. They need to keep Trump in the race because they are pathologically incapable of reporting an actual political story that is not horse race based. They also cherish access to Trump, his con-conspirators and the rest of the MAGA Republicans more than their journalistic integrity.

Moreover -- If I remember correctly (not a sure thing, btw) the 14th Ammendment specifies that if found guilty of such charges as Trump is, he is ineligable for federal office. It is there to keep out members of the Confederacy, but it applies to Trump. Also, Larry tribe agrees with me. :)

Also agreeing with you...2 Federalist Society judges who use this argument to say Trump should be barred from running for office. A few days ago, the movie “Force 10 from Navarone” was on one of my movie channels. (If you have never seen it, a group of commandos were sent to destroy a bridge. They realized it would be too difficult, so they turned their attention to the dam upriver). When their explosives went off, what they got at first were a few trickles from small cracks in the wall of the dam. Little by little, the small cracks widened and the trickles turned into torrents. Eventually the whole dam went and the resulting flood plus the dam detritus undermined the foundations of the bridge, causing it to collapse. Are we seeing some trickles here???? I hope so!!!!

No, only insurrection can bar someone from holding office. There are some laws like the ones regarding unauthorized retention of classified docs that attempt to do the same but would likely be overturned if tested. But, like the other replier mentioned, FedSoc lawyers and constitutional scholars believe it's already a fact he has committed insurrection and shouldn't be allowed on the ballot. Def agree there!

Expand full comment

At the very least, it can go down like this: Many of the "trespassers" were convicted as "insurrectionists". By waiting so long for them to riot like that and not calling them off, he was "giving aid and comfort" to them. Still holds.

Is 2023 the year up once again became up, and down became down again?

It's starting to seem that way. Karma seems real.

Our justice system and every other institution has been stretched to the breaking point, and some institutions may never recover, but karma is here nonetheless.

Thank you for this, it's such an asinine take that this helps him lol

One quibble (and it's more a criticism of general commentating, definitely not you personally) - oleeeease don't say we are polarized. Similar to this idea that being indicted helps Coup-y Doo, the data indicates that the general public isn't polarized/the center and left of center aren't moving further left. It's that the right/GOP have become increasingly radicalized. Political scientists are finally readjusting as well after they originally thought it was polarization (or maybe more accurate to say they didn't confirm what others thought they were seeing) but it'll take a while for the correction and studies to prove it start making a dent in discourse. Until then I'm going to be an annoying "well, actually" person 😂 I think it's important to not let the extreme right think they are more popular than they are when in fact they are growing smaller and smaller!

NYT, WSJ, FOX....all predatory birds of a fascist feather!

It's gross how so many reporters salivate over Trump's craziness. They seem to love covering it. Coincidentally, I was on the road the days of all three indictments. (Yes, I need to get back on the road so the GA indictment comes through.) I had to find NPR on the radio in my car to find out what was going on while I was driving. Each time, they sounded stunned at the charges. Later, when I saw clips of tv reporters, they seemed giddy at the news.
