Capitalism does not exist without the government. It is the government who gives corporations their rights and power.

So if Bezos and the other oligarchs truly want a free market, then let’s dissolve all corporations.

And tax the prosperity gospel churches!

I am a God believing, Jesus praying woman but come on churches need to be taxed. There is a solution here these people need to come off the pedestal that they created for themselves. Mega churches don’t save souls they cause judgement and hatred. Tax them God would approve!

As long as any oligarchs left after the revolution are taxed out of the stratosphere.

Exactly, I am not a member of any church, but I recognize that there are some churches (whatever denomination) that have programs to help feed their community, assist women and children, homeless and youth groups. However, those churches where the pastors live a luxury lifestyle turn my stomach, especially when they get involved in political activities. Definitely tax them and pay their fair share of the gains.

Thank you for your comments. I am not a member of a church either, I was raised catholic and visit church on holidays as traditional. I do however still pray my rosary every day and study the Bible online. This is what works for me. I do believe that when my life ends as I know it now it will continue in another realm 🤷‍♀️. I find great comfort in that belief 🥰. Thanks for listening

How curious that our billionaire overlords have come out of the closet. They should have remained in the dark background pulling the strings. They are the deep state they complain about (pure projection). Now they have exposed themselves as not just greedy, but criminally so. I suggest that the cause of their boldness is deep fear that the people are on to them, that the people will eventually succeed in taxing them properly. Bezos used the word 'coercion'. That is a tell, a tell from Ayn Rand. It means that everything the public sector does must be paid for by taxes, and taxes are raised only by coercion. They fail to admit that THEY are coercing US to pay THEIR prices and allow THEM to accumulate obscene amounts of OUR money and capital not subjected to taxation. I'll give them credit for that fear. What they are doing now is hastening the day when we actually will tax them to pay for our government. Because we are on to them. It will take a while for this knowledge to sink in, but it will. Their wealth is OUR money. We will get it back. In the meantime, we will be arrested, shot, incarcerated in concentration camps. But we will prevail in the end.

Expand full comment

Exactly. The billionaire class has abandoned subtlety. They aren’t just pulling the strings, they are yanking them in broad daylight. Musk in Trump’s cabinet. Bezos rewriting reality through his newspaper. Thiel funding surveillance and authoritarianism. This isn’t just greed. It is a full-scale assault on democracy. They fear us realizing that their wealth is built on our labor, our stolen wages, our gutted public services. And they are right to be afraid. History tells us that when the people catch on, revolutions happen.

Perhaps a campaign should start, pressuring Republican Congressmen to vote in no-confidence

A mere handful of Republican senators should simply defect. It could be so easy to at least put the brakes on this madness. Not one of Trump's insane appointees should have been approved. Imagine what the last five and a half weeks would have been like if Harris had been elected. That loss is a nightmare in itself.

This is a brilliant comment James. You nailed it, that the billionaire overlords are the actual deep state. They have oozed out of the closet to further pull the veil over our eyes. But the billionaires have no clothes. It may be quite a while before, if ever, they pay their fair share (I am not optimistic) but meanwhile we people have far more power than we realized.

It IS our money, and we have the power to withhold it, those of us who can. And we need to build alternatives in our communities to take care of those who cannot. That’s the thing — to stop depending on their corporations to take care of us.

We must take now care of ourselves, as much as possible. To get creative, and get crackin’. Community gardens, etc. We WILL prevail.

White House New Management—One Star

After 5 weeks under new management, I give the President One Star. He's supposed to be watching the store but instead he's out playing golf, squeezing butts, going to football games and race tracks. Bum! He’s selling stuff on the side and not sharing. Rude! He hugged our enemies and told them he loved them. And then he insulted our friends. Nasty! He gave his pals tax breaks and taking money from kids and their schools. Bad!

To top this off, he let rich guy Elon in the back door with his DOG-E (pronounced doggie). Elon’s DOG-E is crapping all over the place. Bad DOG-E! Stop shitting on my government DOG-E!

All in, I have to say Terrible Performance. Bad President. One Star.

Why isn’t the question to the republicans in Congress who are letting all the comic-book villains be confirmed for cabinet positions? The republicans who are letting the executive branch of the government run over Congress’s purview of legislation and funding? The republicans who are letting the executive branch ignore the restrictions of the judiciary branch?

Some of the current republicans who were elected to the Senate and to the House are dumber than bags of hair, but there are others who surely know better and know what is in the Constitution that they ALL swore an oath to.

Where are these republicans!!!!????!!!!

Bossy, Democratic congressman Eric Swalwell said in today's Guardian that many Republicans are actually critical of Trump but are afraid of him because they've been threatened with violence. This is what's going on in our legislature and this is the problem to solve. I have no idea how to do that but I suspect it goes way beyond the legislature. I welcome suggestions.

with their lips firmly attached to t***p's fat ass lest they be primaried by someone supported by Dork Vader's unlimited funds...just like the WI supreme court election is being bought. If you think any more than a few 'pubs might step up and be sane, just look at Joni Ernst, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski - they squeak a good game until the vote rolls around.

It is the republicans who must take the blame for the current havoc in the federal government. If the republicans only fear of standing up for what is right for the U.S. and its people and its supposed values is that they may be primaried and voted out of office, then that’s really venal and they SHOULD not be serving in any level of government.

While I am disappointed in a few of the democrat’s votes in the past five weeks, there is not much the democrats in Congress can do, given that it looks like musk not only arranged for trump’s votes in 2024, but also for the incredibly slim republican majorities in Congress (I guess that’s the best musk could do.).

What the democrats in Congress can do is speak out. And some of them are certainly doing that.

But why are the republicans in Congress acting like such traitorous nincompoops? It’s NOT about pronouns.

Expand full comment

Exactly. It's about money! Always has been. DEI is a tool to stir up stupid voters to vote for Republican morons. The difference now is that they've come out of the closet and exposed their true criminal intent to burn the constitution and end democracy once and for all. They are rightfully afraid of 'the people'. The people must be stopped, and they are salivating at the prospect. I think that a few gunned-down protesters will open people's eyes, just as the Kent State massacre did in 1970 (the entire secondary education system was shut down that spring, exams cancelled, grades given pro forma). It will probably take more than four corpses this time, though.

money and power are much more important to the 'pubs than Constitution or constituents. this has been visible and instituted for decades at all levels of governments. when was the last time you saw a bill proposed or a law passed that benefited the voting public over the corporations or oligarchs? not when 'pubs had control or could filibuster. don't hang by your thumbs waiting for a change of heart from these money-grubbing heartless bastards...

I think swing states' vote totals should have been recounted and verified post election - asap. I don't know that it would have changed anything but the MAGAts would have been put on notice that Dems were not going to just roll over, but check and re-check for fraud and vote dishonesty. But, instead, we played nice while they steamrolled us with dark money and bs propaganda. Until we play by the same 'pub rules, we will continue to lose.

I do not understand why the democrats did not demand audits of the votes in the swing states. There was just too much oddness going on in the election results. trump finally wins the popular vote, which he has been whining about since 2016?? trump wins ALL the swing states??? The entire election count is finished before dawn on Wednesday morning (when was the last time that happened)????

Not even considering all the times trump said at rallies (starting in 2023) that he did not need anyone’s votes; that he had all the votes he needed.

Bezos has a choice. He can sell the Post or he can preside over its death. There is no middle ground. Tesla is in a financial nosedive. When it bottoms out Musk could be $150B - $200B poorer. Let's deny them as much as we can.

And add in other big corporations that donated heavily to Trumps campaign. Walmart is one of them. Millions of people (yes, me too) do quite a bit of shopping at Walmart. They need to be also boycotted. We show our disapproval and disdain by where and where NOT we spend our money.

That's a great question. When will we figure out that we need to form a coalition of progressives and mainstream Democrats, start believing in America again and vote the Republican party - you know, the clear and present threat to "truth, justice, and the American way" out, in order to make space for a legitimate alternative? When will we figure out that people like Biden/Harris can't do some of the things we want but are always a better alternative than people like Trump/Musk/Bezos? When will we stop letting ourselves be manipulated into going along with people who call a Democratic President "Genocide Joe"? When will we figure out that the mainstream media mostly only quotes Bernie and AOC when they say something critical of Democrats? I listen to your show and I really have no idea when this will happen.

Nihilistic authoritarian, turning wealth into a weapon against democracy.

Elon Musk embodies the modern billionaire’s retreat from public investment. Instead of libraries, hospitals, and universities, he leaves us with monopolies, crushed industries, and broken social contracts. The ultra-wealthy of today no longer see themselves as builders of society but as gods above it, hoarding their wealth for personal escape while the world beneath them burns.

Billionaires have stopped building for the public—so the public must take back the power to build for itself.

People taking their power back with the corrupt schools we have is a pipe dream. Education was our only hope when up against the powerful. Since 1995, as a former teacher, I’ve been trying to expose how fascists had taken our schools over decades ago. People with the power to make change continually blow me off. Teacher whistleblowers have been explaining how education is no longer for the people at WhiteChalkCrime.com and EndTeacherAbuse.org for years now. The fact this is being ignored when speaking about oligarch power is the problem. Education is our only weapon and few realize it’s been taken hostage.

In 2010 I received a call from Oprah’s researcher who had my 2008 book about how fascists had stolen education in his hands. She took a pass on making me known while elevating Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz to Trump sycophants Folks, for people to have power they must have access to authentic education. Since called-to-teach teachers have no power, neither do the people.

So far all voicing concerns about ourTrump dilemma, including this article, have ignored the role fascists taking over education played; it paved the way for him. Time to look into this to pave the way out.
