Cheney took on TFG, but she purposely fought against investigating any congress people in the 1/6 Committee. And the DOJ was almost completely diddling things away until the Committee shamed them. But the Committee had nothing on the Jordans and Hawleys, etc., so the DOJ continued with their gross neglect of their jobs.
I won't argue that the Committee already had their hands full enough with TFG, though. But if things got started on Jan.7 instead of waiting on the DOJ for 1 year and 5 months (!!!), a more widespread investigation would have unearthed many truths by talking with more people sooner, such as Cassidy H, which is what seems to have blown things open.
I applaud Liz Cheney for her efforts to save democracy though there was a time when people were asking if a presidential bid was in the best interest of the country. I said then and will say again that she is and always will be her father’s daughter. She contributed to the current republican party. (He wrote an article on his Substack site about how to get to a consensus speaker candidate.) I am a lifelong liberal Democrat, so I don’t agree with Kinzinger’s policy ideas, but I appreciate what he’s doing now to preserve what’s left of our democracy. But this woman would have none of it and kept saying I need to stop lionizing Kinzinger. People like this don’t seem to understand that Republicans who have broken with their party to speak out against Trump and his enablers are as important as Democrats pushing back against this. That’s the only way we can defeat them.
