Republicans made this bed and now we are all forced to lie in it. Sure, we can laugh at Graham's misfortune, God knows he deserves all the boos and jeers that can be mustered. But you are right, he transgressed and the cult will not tolerate it. Trump's "enemies" are already threatened every day. A heavily armed MAGA got close to Obama. Have we any doubt that should Trump be convicted and actually sentenced to prison that there won't be violence? And God help us if the Roberts Court uses the loophole they left themselves in Moore v Harper to put Trump back in office. The USA will look like Stalin's Russia multiplied by Hitler's Germany raised to the power of Franco's Spain and the Ayatollah's Iran.

I could not agree more with you Peter! Although I do not think enough GOP justices would help Trump return to power illegally because they get that at some point he will gut the court. But Thomas and Alito certainly would be on board.

As we used to say when I lived in Spain Ojala! I'm terrified that the MAGAs will threaten enough MAGA Cannons to force the case to SCOTUS where the Leo Cabal will act out of fear...and fealty. (BTW - He already gutted the Court)

That's incredibly scary. I can't stand Graham, but seeing him ripped apart by a Fascist crowd is chilling. Your piece is right on.

What do we have to do to get everyone to wake up and see what's happening right in front of them? I haven't read a single piece in the New York Times or Washington Post calling out the MAGA movement as Fascist. Have I missed it? I do think people hear that F word and think it's the Left blowing things waaaaay out of proportion. Folks are just not paying attention.

Few hosts in the corporate media beyond Joy Reid and Mehdi Hassan will use the term fascism on air. (I may be missing others but that is who I know use the term) We need the corporate media to have on fascism experts to explain this over and over!

Yes, 1000 times yes! They need historians on staff.

You left out that fascist authoritarian people like to see humans grovel.

If only the maga zombies actually understood what they are insisting on, like being a slave to this regime. They will pay dearly. Like TFG gives one good god damn about his hillbilly brigade.

I'm going to disagree a bit. The GOP has been going down the Fascist highway ever since Nixon ran in 1968. claiming he had "a secret plan" to win the Vietnam War (while screwing with the negotiations via back channels). By the end of his first term, he had an enemies list, etc. etc. as well as using all out thugs to harass the Dems (G. Gordon Liddy). Ford was okay, but those who followed were also embracing the authoritarianism pattern established by Nixon. Nearly 45 years after Nixon, Trump merely completed the puzzle.

Yes, this is terrifying. We have to focus on handing the GOP a loss the likes of which no political party has seen and survived from, and we have to do it soon.

Lindsey is an intelligent man. He is awful and opportunistic but in no way stupid. I wish he could read this and see the truth of what he hath sowed. Doing Trumps bidding so vocally and publicly showed his true colors and it got him nowhere and helped put our country in terrible peril.

There is the slight issue that the regime actually in power would never allow a disfavored person to appear with them, or anywhere, since media, NGOs and most commerce and industry collude hand in glove with them, which is what fascism actually is, regardless of looks.

And of course there is also the uncomfortable truth that "The Big Lie" has turned out to be "The Reasonable Hypothesis" since there was undeniably massive election interference as well as credible evidence of possible outright fraud large enough to change the result.

I say that as a life long independent who has never voted for any Republican in any election and only recently ended 20+ years of alignment with the Democratic party. I hated that Trump was elected and apparently came close to being re-elected.

But to you I am now no different than any deplorable MAGA, right? Inconsiderable without a condescending sneer. Almost like anything other than blind allegiance to your side makes people into irredeemable others to be suppressed.

Everybody who gets in bed with Trump lives to regret it. Just ask Jeff Sessions, who gave up his Senate seat for Trump, and is now a working as a barefoot sharecropper in bib overalls and a straw hat somewhere in rural Alabama.
