I read the entire Atlantic article. It should trigger any decent person’s gag reflex. How chilling that this vicious, uneducated, hateful, selfish man is the Republican Party’s presidential nominee.

He's "fascist to the core"

His agenda, if elected, will become the rule given Trump total power, destroying our democracy taken away normal freedoms!

We must do everything we can to combat fascism. Voting is not going to stop fascism, but anything that puts a barrier between Trump and the executive will at the very least make it so that an authoritarian fascist regime is not guaranteed.

Kamala Harris is showing us the politics of what's possible, and she'll lead with that same joy and optimism as our next president.

There's optimism in the air, I've gotten so many high-fives wearing this Kamala shirt everywhere I go 👇

And how chilling that the Republican nominee REFUSED to accept the will of the American voter, which is REQUIRED by our CONSTITUTION, and the Republican Party CONTINUES to support him and endorsed him AGAIN as their nominee for the presidency!

He so clearly doesn’t give a sh*t. From the beginning, he’s lost 😞 in his own pride… vision of grandeur that makes it easy for him to be manipulated by worse!!!! We must all vote NO to him and YES to Harris / Walz + Blue all the way (!!) up and down our ballots.

If Trump wins he will be surrounded by people plotting to supplant him and seize power. Number one on the list is JD Vance.

I'm going to be a bit curmudgeonly here, but f'k John Kelly...and Mark Milley...and John Bolton...and Mattis and McMaster and and...

Everyone of these guys these could have resigned in disgust, loudly telling the world what Trump was doing and saying when it might have made a difference. But every one of these guys saved it for a book. Yes, it's good we are hearing it now, but maybe, just maybe if we had heard it in real time the craven cowardly Republican senators would have been embarrassed into voting to convict in either impeachment, or would have walked away after the insurrection when Trump was on the ropes.

All of them may have served honorably (well maybe not Bolton), but failed to stand up when it mattered.

Exactly. So NOW Kelly comes out and tells us this? I also heard he isn’t voting for Kamala Harris. So how serious is the danger Mr. Kelly?

“Kelly had in the past explained to Trump that in reality German generals “tried to kill Hitler three times and almost pulled it off.” But “this correction did not move Trump to reconsider his view: “No, no, no, they were totally loyal to him, the president responded.” Kelly confirmed that past conversation with Trump to The Atlantic in this new article.”

What strikes me the most is just how ignorant of a being Trump really is, I won’t say (human being), but he’s a “being”nonetheless.

Seriously, the guy worships Hitler, yet he has no idea who Rommel was, or that all of his reputable generals, thought he was CRAZY, and tried to kill him several times. Not to mention, we all know how it eventually ends for fascists!

What’s worse of course, is the fact that German’s after WW1 at least had a valid excuse. Reparations from the Treaty of Versailles destroyed the German economy. People were forced to barter to stay alive. Bank notes were worthless, and often used as fuel to build fires to stay warm. Additionally, Germany suffered from hyperinflation, at a rate of 300% per month, and unemployment was the worst Germans suffered in decades. Furthermore, the Germans had no modern example of Fascism to compare to; while both Hitler and Mussolini have served as a warning to all of the world, for the last 75 years. So let that sink in!

That said, what’s America’s excuse? Inflation at 9%? The whole world went into a full blown recession after COVID, suffering from worse inflation than us, and higher unemployment. Yet, here we are, complaining like a bunch of whiners when the economy is back on track. These people have become Trump. Just a bunch of pansies who either are too stupid to know the difference, apathetic, or know exactly what they are getting with Trump, and MAGA.

And in my opinion, this says a lot more about Americans today, than it could ever say about Trump! And that in itself, should scare the bejesus out of all of us…:)

"Trump wants Hitler-esque loyalty". Compare the similarities between Trump's attacks against the LGBTQ, threats of deportation and violence against those of Hitlers in this infographic the "Fascist Project 2025 Playbook". https://thedemlabs.org/2024/10/14/trump-demonizes-immigrants-minorities-fascist-project-2025-playbook/

Remember the words of Pastor Niemoller who spoke out against Hitler: "First they came for the Transgender and I did not speak out, because I was not Transgender.

Then they came for the Jews and I did not speak out, because I was not a Jew

Then they came for the Muslims and I did not speak out, because I was not a Muslim

Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me

- Pastor Niemoller poem (adapted)"

When we say he's a fascist, when we liken him to Hitler, what we're really saying is that Trump has no conscience, no ability to care about other human beings. Trump is driven, as was Hitler, by an old, unconscious need to avenge the powerless little boy he once was, and become like his domineering father who had complete control over the world that this little boy observed. That's who he's trying to emulate and he uses present day dictators as his models for how to achieve the feeling of having power.

As we have seen with the J6 insurrection, Trump acts out his fantasies of domination. He takes literal revenge on the ancient mommies and daddies who neglected and abused him. Every human being he encounters is either completely obedient to him or a mortal enemy that must be denigrated or even annihilated. It's his mental states, his seriously disordered mind, that makes him analogous to Hitler.

In Russia they call him a “useful idiot” and the American Gorbachev — a bad leader who will destroy his country and allow Putin to become the leader of the new world order.

Hmm...I thought Gorbachev was a wise man who made an agreement with Reagan to reduce the nuclear arsenals of both countries.

To us he may have been but Putin hated him and blamed him for the breakup of the USSR. Putin is now trying to reinstate the USSR and take back “rightful” land and power.

Expand full comment

Of course Putin hated Gorbachev. Putin is a sociopathic dictator, a malignant narcissist, who doesn't have the capacity to genuinely care about other people aside from what they can do for him. Gorbachev had the capacity to care about others. He was genuinely kind and probably had a more loving childhood than Putin. Sociopaths only connect with others who share their defensively macho worldview that kindness is for "sissies." They need to feel superior to kindhearted men and to denigrate and even eradicate them. Deep inside sociopaths long for tenderness, feel ashamed of their longings, and must wipe out anyone who reminds them of the kindness they never got and "shouldn't need."

I'm really glad that General Kelly is finally speaking out about trump. I hope a lot of people are listening/reading. One of the things that has impressed me lately is that trump is into name-calling without having any idea of what the words mean. Specifically, he thinks fascists are, or identifies them as, part of the radical left. I can't fathom being so clueless about the words I use. Yes, trump chooses them deliberately, but his purpose is always to malign, not to use terms appropriately.

If Trump somehow happens to be the president and turns this nation into a fascist country, the main stream media is very complicit in the demise of our democracy. They have done fu-king nothing to warn the public or shed a light on the true person that Trump is and what they’re planning to do with their GOP Project 2025.

They should’ve had long reports on project 2025 and what it means to the country. They should’ve had interviews with people like Stephen HASSANPHD who was a cult member in the 70s with the Moonies, got out after 2 1/2 years and became an expert on Cults . Steven wrote the book “The Cult of Trump “

One just has to search YouTube with that title and his name and the name Rick Wilson, and the Lincoln Project and you will come across his 34 minute podcast on how Trump and Hitler and dictators around the world create cult with their population ., Lie lie, lie, lie, lie, lie lie every day every week, and sooner or later those people will start to believe it as truth then have a common enemy. Hitler had the Jews and Trump has the immigrants..

The mainstream media could had Stephen Hansen Ph.D. do a multi part series on national TV but the main media is turning a blind eye .

100% correct! From the moment Les Moonvess of CBS said, "Trump may not be good for America but he's good for CBS," my stomach dropped and I felt total dread. That was before the 2016 election.

Mental health professionals have been trying to educate and inform media personnel and the general public regarding the dangerousness of a sociopath like Trump. Steve Hassan, as you mentioned, has written many books, posted courses on cult behavior and is still educating the public about what happens to your mind when you are taking over and brainwashed by a cult leader.

Bandy Lee, published her first book called, The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump, in 2017 and Ruth Ben-Ghiat published Strongmen and has a blog called Lucid and a weekly meeting on Zoom that is hugely educational. Working together we can preserve democracy in the US. 💙👍💙

What a maroon Moonvess is. Now trump wants to revoke CBS license for their interview with VP Harris. So much for "good for CBS". Insert crying emoji.

Just to add to the list, the person/medical professional who knows him better than anyone, his niece, Mary Trump, also wrote a book in which she refers to him in the subtitle as "the world's most dangerous man". I know most people are aware of this, but I list it just in case someone is reading the comments who is not. I have also read Stephen Hassan's book.

In middle school in the early 1970's, our social studies teacher showed a film about the Holocaust.

It was a black and white documentary, chilling to the bones. It showed the trains, terror, ovens, everything. Everyone today should see that film.

I saw a photo on the front page of a newspaper of the prisoners who had been liberated from one of Hitler’s concentration camps. They looked like human skeletons. That photo gave me nightmares for many years. I was 5 years old at the time.

Expand full comment

I'm so sorry you witnessed that. Photos and films of the concentration camps should not be shown to children, but we need curricula that include the study of emotional needs and interpersonal dynamics to understand how humans affect one another. This is relevant at every age and stage and can eventually, in middle school or later, include the specifics of horrors like the multiple genocides that one group has inflicted upon another, including that of Indigenous peoples, Africans, Armenians, Jews, etc.

Dean--did you just say Gen. Kelly served with bone spurs? While Trump used bone spurs to avoid serving. Trump is able to fail up and grift with apparent impunity (and immunity), while his "suckers and losers" fight and die for his freedom to do so. This is abominable.

The one and only issue in this election centers around the refusal of a candidate to accept the WILL of the American voter - which is REQUIRED by our CONSTITUTION.

The requirement to accept the will of the American voter, whether the candidate is Democrat or Republican, is the foundation to the functioning and survival of our democracy.

If one candidate REFUSES to accept the will of the American voter, that has automatically DISQUALIFIED that candidate from ever running for any office in our government again.

Accepting the will of the American voter is the ONE and ONLY BASIC requirement which must be met FIRST and upon which any voter is OBLIGATED to base their voting decision, irrespective and before any specific policies or issues.
