We need to “find a new Speaker of the House”, Marj? There’s a guy named Hakim that’s available. 🤔😉😊

Don’t lift a finger!

LET THEM EAT EACH OTHER.

Any Democrat who helps that dangerous freak Johnson is certifiably insane.

(And I loved “don’t try to catch a falling knife.” Never heard that before.)

I haven’t either but I love the expression. It paints the perfect picture in one’s mind.

An argument by former representative Adam Kinzinger suggested cutting a deal with Mike Johnson in which Democrats would save him in exchange for bringing the Ukraine aid bill up for a vote. Trouble is, he is not trustworthy. What is to say he would agree to such a deal, only to double-cross the Democrats who saved him?

Never cut deals with republican cheats and liars. Their word is worthless.

Johnson is mini-McConnell. Don’t trust the little twerp.

That would seem to be a concern, wouldn’t it? 🤔😉😊

Kinzinger has stated that he is a Reagan republican. Reagan’s “trickle down” has brought us to now w/gap between wealthy and poor have almost eliminated the middle income class. And it continues to widen more. Hating tRump is not enough to buy into whatever he says.

I think Marji wants to be Speaker.

If, by some chance, Jeffries is thinking about throwing Mikey a lifeline, he should put a *substantial* price on it, e.g., regarding committies etc., and make some offers to (some) Republicans to entice them to switch.

Besides, Allah/Goddess willing, it’s only for nine months.🤔😉😊

She wants to be Queen of MAGA!

She’s already there. What MAGA woman is better known or has more influence? 🤔😉😊

No price. MAGAS don’t keep their word.

Dean has it right, as usual. Mike Johnson will go down in history as the degenerate non-christian he has always been.

I think that Democrats should help Johnson IF and ONLY IF they “get something” out of it. Moving the Ukraine package forward, etc.

Ukraine funding, border judges, Dreamers, removal of Comer & Jordan. And that’s just the start

Ah yes! Shitcan the Jimmies! A boy can dream, can’t he? 😉

Johnson will never concede to any of it. He already helped a little bit. Don’t expect more. Let the fake evangelical against-what-Jesus would ever approve fall. He’s another vile 💩, he just looks a little better and clean cut. But he’s just as poisonous ☠️ as the extreme right wingers trying to take down our country.

He doesn’t have the power for the latter, but the rest is at least plausible. 🤔😉😊

Oh, yeah he does, he just doesn't know it. then again, they are both writing so many ads for the Democrats in November it might be worth keeping them around.

Expand full comment

That's not enough. And can you trust Mike to keep his word? I'm sure he can find some bible verse to support anything he wants.

Agree.

Totally agree, and hope Ukraine can hold on. Maybe another couple of R’s will leave during the next round of chaos. Three weeks of the GQP not working? Who could tell? And Johnson’s home state is Louisiana, not Mississippi, but they are neck and neck in the race to the bottom.

You’ve convinced me! That’s for sure. I was a little confused at first because I had thought there was some agreement in the works from Johnson for Ukraine aid. We desperately need to provide that aid.

Expand full comment

I read that Jeffries said that if Dems helped Johnson, then Johnson had to bring the disruption bills to the House so Dems could vote yes for Ukraine aid.

Wrong word—should have written Discharge petition…

I totally agree with you, Dean. Why save a right-wing gerbil like Mike Johnson? If he goes down, let him. It's obvious that the current GOP-controlled House isn't going to do anything at all to help the American people, so who cares if Johnson gets thrown out? It's not as though he's worth saving. Let the GOP implode. It will only help Democrats in November. They are practically throwing the election our way and writing the campaign ads for us. Let's not get in the way of that.

Expand full comment

It’s somewhat speculative, but it would only take two Republican defectors to elect Jeffries outright. 🤔😉😊

What I'd like to know, in your opinion: Why would Democrats want to save him? What's the benefit for the country of doing so?

Well, I'd suggest consulting an expert first; say James Carville!

Great statement, Dean: “Don't try to catch a falling knife."

Any assistance or effort to save Johnson would be a dagger in the ass of progress. The D’s must not do that. Pay attention to the two prior sentences and say them again, and again on repeat.
