My heart is breaking because I expected so much more from the Democrats. Capitulation to the most embarrassing president elect in our history is not the answer. They know this, and that is why my disappointment is so overwhelming. We already have Democrats who are voting against America and her future. My question is, are they really Democrats? I'm moving into the "trust no one" zone. It's a dark place to be.

Yes they are Democrats. The major difference between the Dems and the Repugnants are their constituents. Some represent the educated and some represent a mix of the greedy and the uneducated.

For both Dems and Repugnants the driving force is getting re-elected. WE THE PEOPLE must clearly let our Dems know that if they do not stand up we will not support them and look for an alternative candidate.

they need to stop being corporate whores and begin governing for working families....if they don't do that then the RepubliCONS will eat them for lunch

They? Will not happen.

Yes, I am afraid, very afraid. I am a lifelong unaffiliated voter that always voted for the best candidate as determined by their education and governmental experience. This last election I voted straight BLUE up and down the ticket. I was threatened a month or so before the election by MAGATs, as were a couple other women, at a public function. I received a “Jewish” learning at a young age about pogroms and the Holocaust. I learned about other mass murders like Mao’s starvation of Chinese people, Argentina disappeared those who resisted, and on. I fear my neighbors, I fear the slow walk into autocratic hell, I fear climatic hell, I fear the future for our kids and grandkids. It’s the little things like not being able to put bumper stickers on cars or signs in yards that is disturbing. Or go to local public meetings where participants bring guns. (Really they do. Some have handguns on their waists.). How do we get past this fear?

Tested "a little bit"?? Are you kidding? How about assaulted relentlessly. I am sick of the democratic cowards. It's time for a tea party purge of the party. If you don't stick up for democratic values, you aren't one. My senator Durbin in IL has done nothing to show leadership...it's time for him to go. All those dems running for office this past election had to know there was the possibility of Harris losing, and they needed to have the guts to fight the new Nazi party if they took over. Obviously their fascist talk was BS, and they planned to just cave all along. If you are only looking out for number one, you aren't representing the people. We need heroes right now...all those firefighters out in CA are more qualified to lead congress than the rest of you cowards in DC.

I’ve given up on the Democrats, I switched my voter registration back to independent, the left-hand capitalist party doesn’t represent me at all.

I changed mine as well...I think we need a new party. It's the 21st century, I'm done with all this BS

I sent “Do not obey in advance” letters to both of my senators (Hickenlooper and Bennet) a week ago.

I sent someone’s substack about it to one of my state reps who I felt was obeying in advance, I think she was, but she switched gears and she’s doing the right thing again

That was a really good thing to do! I live in New York and have two Democratic senators and I this article motivated me and I just called my senators to encourage them to be brave and stand up against Trump as strongly as they can. They are prominent and will be clear targets for him and his administration to persecute so I can understand them being somewhat fearful but the more people stand up to Trump the harder will be for him to defeat us.

I'm in Colorado as well. Did you get a response from either of them? I do hear from Jason Crow's office that he is "not backing down" and I expected to hear the same from the senators. I, too, would like to start making the senators aware that unless they oppose him, we will be working on sending them on their way.

I have not had a reply from our senators. I’m in CD 3, where Bobo fled from. Alas, Adam Frisch did not win, and Jeff Hurd (r) is my new rep.

Ugh. Too bad Frisch didn't win. Really hoping our CO congress steps up.

Fetterman needs to be primaried, he not only let us down he now is kissing trumps ass. Dems are weak and if you are not willing to fight for our democracy get the hell out of office

How about recalling him?

Yes I’m completely out of fucks to give for the apparent capitulation embodied by the likes of Fetterman and others who, at best, are offering tepid resistance to the pending and ongoing nightmare scenario unfolding already for months. “Go along to get along” is what the bad guys always practice — I’m failing to see much difference anywhere left of center to date. What the fuck gives??!! 😡

Take a look at EricSwalwell online, he and others have strategies working right now. Long game as they know they have 4 years of shit to deal with and none of them voted for the criminal like too many dumb Americans did.

Where is the unified Democratic message? No where. That is my point. You can't rely on the handful of fighters to save us.

I just called my Congressman's office (Sanford Bishop - D-GA and the guy answering the phone, but I have yet to see any coordinated effort. I think we'll know by mid week after the coronation. If he puts out his Emergency and Martial Law edicts, it is over.

That is it in a nutshell. No strategy, no unified leadership. No plan.

This is what people get when they vote blue no matter who though. All the Republican has to do is put a D next to their name and the Democrat voters vote for them.

Maybe this time they will learn not to vote like a cult like MAGA.

Expand full comment

You have no idea how much I want to disagree with you..

But I can't. I feel like Dems. laid down for trump. There were so many questions and doubts about the election results like how it's impossible to win every swing State.

Where were the audits? Where were the recounts and verifications? I really don't get it but I'm seriously worried and disappointed in Dems. and the outcomes we don't really even know are real.

2020 was apparently a dress rehearsal. This time, they did it successfully and no one stepped up to make sure what really happened.

Expand full comment

Agree 💯. The Democrats' campaign strategy tells us they've been playing defense way too long. The insane focus on winning the 7 "swing" states doesn't cut it. Last time I checked, we had 50.

I live in New Hampshire and Biden didn’t even appear on our primary ballot because the DNC told us they didn’t care who we wanted we were going to get Biden.

Then after he dropped out they made sure no one else ended up on the ballot except for Kamala, Trump, Jill Stein, and some weird libertarian dude who probably wants to have sex with children because the New Hampshire libertarian brag about that all the time on Twitter.

The dems fought harder to keep lefties off the ballot than they fought against trump. Kind of makes you wonder why they fought that hard just so they could lose and capitulate, doesn’t it?

Could it possibly be that the left-hand capitalist party wants the handmaid’s tale just as much as the right hand?

Expand full comment

oh I should add that in 2020 in New Hampshire Biden actually came in fifth in our primary out of the “D” options. He lost that primary HARD.

But we got him anyway. And he is why we have forever Covid he destroyed public health, Biden is why I will have to wear a mask in public forever because he convinced everyone that it’s fine to spread Covid throughout their friends and family and community because those of us who vaccines don’t work for need to quietly fall by the wayside so we don’t salt the vibes.

Biden didn’t even bother to fix the post office before midterms or before 2024. There were plenty of reports about ballots in dumpsters in 2022, I’ve seen people on Reddit showing screenshots from 2024 when they tracked their ballot. They mailed it in at the beginning of October and it didn’t reach its destination until after it was too late to be counted.

The Dems aren’t going to fight because they wanted to lose. If they didn’t why didn’t he at least fix the post office so ballots would be counted??

Expand full comment

The Dems didn't even make a sqweek, they put their tail between their legs and whimpered off. Too afraid that by raising legitimate concerns and questioning the validity of the election, it would make them look like the republicans who tried to overthrow our government. They should have at least done some sleuthing because it is very suspicious that the Traitor Trump got all 7 swing states. Did they somehow come to accept the end of democracy in our country?

💯🎯 exactly! I feel the same way.

"Bluntly, though, certain Democrats in office need to be primaried in 2026. We need to send a message that we want fighters, not people who put their own political concerns over the communities that are most at risk in Trump’s second term."

That's some true speak, Dean. And perhaps, our only potential to enjoy the privilege of "hope".

Dean, You are one hundred percent right on! "Common ground with Trump." What a sad, sorry joke that is! What did Jesus say, "Forgive them for they know not what they do." They know what they do.....and besides, I am just not that pious. Step up or step aside Democratic leadership. Exactly. Thank you for always putting the pin on the point!

The only way to deal with a fascist and a bully is offense and onslaught - collectively. Dems have been prostrate since the election - silent and beaten. This is not how we are going to win back our historic constituency. I read an article this morning about a western PA Dem who not only won re-election against a MAGA, but did better in his district than Harris. His playbook needs to be copied and applied throughout the country for '26. His name is Chris Deluzio and the deep dive on his tactics are covered at The Lever: https://www.levernews.com/the-democrat-who-defied-the-trump-wave/ We need new blood in the Dem party - from top to bottom. Why would young voters give us a second look when the party is controlled by and for compliant corporate suck-up, power-retaining walking corpses? They have no ones interests front and center except their own. I have been a Dem since VN, but I am seriously considering changing my affiliation to Ind. as my party has become a the other political wing of oligarch ass kissing for PAC $$$ - voters be damned. We should never have lost this election. It shouldn't even have been close. But we have abandoned the working class and their day-to-day issues. Would Dems of today fight for the New Deal? They won't even address real health/medical reform despite the corporate rip-offs happening thousands of times a day to patients who paid for coverage - I know, I worked in healthcare for a couple decades. The bribes would dry up... Without real change, we will not defeat the lies and propaganda of the right. Without independent media our message will never be heard - unless we get back to grass roots campaigning. Without Dems who give a damn about their constituents we will continue to be irrelevant.

I hear from pundits all the time that American voters are smart. That tripe is spewed from their mouths every election cycle. The American electorate is bubble wrapped and stuck on stupid. “We have to fight “ yeah right. How exactly? Phone calls, emails to your representatives? Marches and demonstrations? That works so well. It should make them start shaking in their boots. 1/3 of eligible voters in this country don’t care enough to even vote. 1/3 believe anything they’re told by Fox News or right wing websites that validates their own bigotry. 1/3 can’t see the forest for the trees and fail to recognize that we’ve been living in a plutocracy for decades leading up to this eventual autocratic oligarchy. If Jan 6, 2021 didn’t scare the shit out of the majority of Americans, nothing ever will. Americans have the attention span of a ball bearing. Money and power go hand in hand. Take away the former and the latter crumbles. Remember the Boston Tea Party? Remember “taxation without representation “? Trump wants a tax break for billionaires. How about a tax revolt by citizens? How is the government funded? Want to make them afraid? That’s how you do it. If someone can organize a million man or woman march….

Nah, what am I thinking? The stupids just elected Trump!

I have sent multiple emails to my senators asking them to vote against certification of all of the cabinet nominees. However I know my republican senator (Ron Johnson of Wisconsin) will jot silted and will go along with all nominees because he is spineless and a conspiracy theorist himself who denied the result of the Biden presidential victory.

I am loosing hope and totally fed up with the democrat’s acquiescence. It’s time the democrats learn they need to get in the mud and get dirty along with the republicans.

My wife and I just retired and now I think we will loose everything that we have worked for. More importantly, our children will suffer as collateral damage from the republican government. And the democratic leadership are hiding in a closet.
