We must applaud Democrats who vocally called ICE’s killing of Renee Good “murder”
These Dems effectively countered Trump's lies
The typical response of Democratic leaders to incidents that intersect with the legal system is to say “let the process play out.” Even after Donald Trump’s attempted coup and Jan. 6 terrorist attack, Democratic members of Congress did not vocally demand Trump be swiftly arrested for attempting to end our Republic for fear of making any prosecution look political.
The real world impact of this traditional Democratic approach is to empower the right to control the narrative in a way that serves their agenda. And while that narrative dominance--as it is called--might start in the MAGA media, it soon becomes embraced by more legitimate news outlets given Democrats are not offering a counter narrative.
Thankfully, that approach has changed. At least that is what we saw after the shooting of Renee Good by ICE agent Jonathan Ross. Many Democratic leaders immediately responded in a way that was passionate and powerful, calling the shooting what it was: Murder. And that’s why we saw the over the top, desperate response of people like JD Vance and others on the right to reclaim the narrative.
The first Democratic official to lead this charge was the Mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey who made headlines when during the press conference shortly after Good was killed he told ICE: “Get the fuck out of Minneapolis!” He continued, “Your stated reason for being in this city is to create some kind of safety, and you are doing exactly the opposite.” (See clip below)
And Frey in real time countered the lies being spewed by the Trump regime to justify their murder of Good. That is when Frey bluntly stated that Trump’s DHS is “trying to spin this as an action of self-defense.” He continued, “Having seen the video of myself, I want to tell everybody directly that is bullshit.” Frey added, “This was an agent recklessly using power that resulted in somebody dying, getting killed.”
The result was twofold. Frey was getting the truth out there. And second, a counter narrative to the Trump regime’s lies was forming.
Imagine if instead Frey had simply said the typical “we have to let the process play out.” Then the early media coverage would have been the Trump lie filled narrative going unchallenged—which would’ve been next to impossible to counter once it took hold.
From there, we saw various Democratic members of Congress also telling America the truth in fiery tones that were truly inspiring. Rep. AOC told reporters not long after Frey’s comments that ICE had “assassinated” Good. She urged people to watch the video for themselves where they will “see a woman trying to back up her vehicle and leave a volatile scene. And she was met with three bullets to the face.” AOC added, “What we saw today is a murder, and murders in cold blood need to be prosecuted.” (See video below)
Other Democrats on Wednesday echoed that sentiment. For example, Rep. Ilhan Omar who represents Minneapolis stated, “ICE’s actions today were unconscionable and reprehensible. I am beyond outraged that their reckless, callous actions led to the killing of a legal observer in Minneapolis.” Omar demanded a criminal investigation noting, “This is not law enforcement. It is state violence.”
Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) told reporters, “I saw the video. I was disgusted. I was horrified. That ICE agent needs to be arrested, and he needs to be prosecuted. He needs to be put on trial.” Rep. Delia Ramirez from Illinois stated, “A woman in Minneapolis was murdered by ICE. Shot in the face.” And Rep. Robin Kelly of Illinois within hours of the shooting was calling to impeach DHS Secretary Kristi Noem calling her “a disgrace to our democracy.”
By Thursday, Democratic House leader Hakeem Jeffries stated at a press briefing that “The killing of Renee Nicole Good was an abomination — a disgrace.” He then blamed the Trump regime for her death, “And blood is clearly on the hands of those individuals within the administration who’ve been pushing an extreme policy that has nothing to do with immigration enforcement connected to removing violent felons from this country.”
Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison—who will be co-leading Minnesota’s investigation into the shooting—obviously could not comment on if he believes crimes were committed until the review is complete. But during my interview of him Thursday, even he did not hold back saying about the Trump regime, “This is a tyrannical government with a paramilitary group of a Gestapo-style people, abusing the rights of the people of this country.” He warned they are “trying to impose by force his will and dominance on the population.”
You get the idea. Gone for many was the cliché BS that “we need to let the process play out.” In its place we saw Democrats powerfully channeling our anger and passion.
All of this is why a panicked and desperate JD Vance appeared Thursday afternoon in the White House briefing room to both defend the murder and slam the press. Vance knew that the Trump regime was losing the media narrative and the nation was seeing the truth. This explains Vance’s hysterical claims that what Good did was “classic terrorism” and she was waging an “an attack on the American people” and upon “law and order.”
And despite what we all saw in the videos, Vance tried to parrot Trump’s antics by telling us ignore our eyes and believe his lies. For example, Vance stated that Good “aimed her car at a law enforcement officer and pressed on the accelerator.” Nope, the video shows Good was turning away from the officer and as former FBI Agent Frank Figliuzzi explained in our interview, a forensic review of the footage shows that the ICE agent was not in harm’s way when fired the three shots.
Still desperate to regain the narrative, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem appeared Sunday on CNN where she parroted Vance’s lies—which by now are laughable. She literally repeated to Jake Tapper her lies from Wednesday that Good “attacked” the ICE officers by attempting “to run them over and ram them with her vehicle.”
Obviously, we’ve seen the footage. We know Noem is lying but in the past Trump was able to sway people by repeating the same lie over and over. Generally that was effective because Democrats did not push back hard offering up a counter narrative based on the truth. Plus in this case there is video undermining the lies.
The lesson from these Democratic officials is that by passionately telling the truth to counter Trump’s lies in real time it has a real impact. They truly deserve to be applauded for doing that. Their actions make it more likely that the family of Renee Good –a mother of three-sees justice. She was murdered and every ICE agent involved in her killing must be prosecuted. That is the truth.

Because it is!! All the BS skirting around trying to lie about what everyone could see for themselves is unacceptable and hurtful!! That Woman died for NOTHING!! The Shooter must be brought to Justice Periodt!!
Vance/MAGA propaganda & projection that violent ICE agents are victims: "There's an entire network...trying to incite violence against our law enforcement officers. It's ridiculous.” No, the Trump admin is sending ICE out to incite violence, illegally detain & summarily execute peaceful protesters creating a pretext to invoke the Insurrection Act, interfere with elections, prevent a Blue tsunami & retain power.
"Trained", armed ICE officers surround Good's car for at most a traffic violation. She responds: "That's fine dude. I'm not mad at you..."; begins to move away from the officers & is shot 3x in the head.
ICE is offering $50K bonuses to sign up for self induced endangerment & summary execution "training".
