Trump’s Jan. 6 slush fund is right from Hitler’s playbook!

This is not a coincidence

It was about a year after Jan. 6 that I first raised red flags in both articles and on my SiriusXM radio show that Donald Trump would be increasingly defending and even praising the Jan. 6 terrorists. That was way before Trump was calling them “patriots,” pardoned them or recently erased their crimes from the DOJ website and created his $1.8 billion terrorist slush fund to reward them.

The reason I raised that concern is not because I’m some type of political version of Nostradamus. Rather it’s because I have read a great deal about the history of fascist leaders and spoken to many experts.

That history was telling us that Trump would not reject the J6 terrorists but instead embrace, celebrate and honor those who helped him wage his failed coup. After all, it’s exactly what Adolph Hitler did after his 1923 failed coup known as the “Beer Hall Putsch.”

That coup saw Hitler lead several thousand of his supporters in an effort to violently overthrow Germany’s Weimar Republic. Among those who marched with Hitler included Hermann Göring, Heinrich Himmler, Rudolf Hess and others who would later serve in very visible positions in the Nazi regime.

Hitler’s plot led to a clash with the Munich police that left 14 Nazis and four police officers dead—and scores of both injured. Hitler was arrested and served less than one year in prison where he wrote “Mein Kampf” and plotted his return to power.

After Hitler’s release from jail, he saw the benefit of celebrating the so called “martyrs” of the coup as a way to rally supporters. Hitler even utilized a flag from the attack that had been stained with the blood of his supporters—known as the “Blood flag” --as a powerful piece of propaganda at Nazi events.

Once Hitler became Chancellor of Germany in 1933, he honored those killed by the police in his coup attempt with an annual event known as “Reich Day of Mourning.” And the city square where the Hitler’s loyalists had clashed with police became a key memorial for the Nazi Party.

There is little originality when it comes to fascist tactics and propaganda. That is why what Trump has been doing to rewrite the Jan 6 attack as an “act of patriotism” was foretold to us by Hitler.

Trump didn’t start out following Hitler’s tactics. As a reminder, the day after the Jan. 6 attack, Trump slammed the incident and literally vowed that those who attacked the Capitol “will pay” for their “acts of violence and destruction.”

But less than a year later we saw Trump begin to embrace the Hitler approach of embracing and celebrating the attackers. Either Trump instinctively grasped this tactic or someone around him who had studied Hitler understood the benefit of reversing course and following what Hitler did because it worked.

That is why within a year after Jan. 6, Trump was already praising Ashli Babbit—who was killed by the police as she attempted to lead the mob into a secured area in the Capitol on Jan 6—as a martyr. By early 2022, Trump was calling the attackers “patriots” and floated the idea of pardoning some of the J6 terrorists.

To be clear, at that time, Trump was in lockstep with the MAGA base given a 2022 poll found that a majority of them viewed the attack as “defending freedom.” Trump soon began to host fundraisers for the Jan 6 terrorists—some of the worst—at his country club where he called the attackers “great people.” Trump was now fully committed to rewriting the Jan. 6 attack to help himself politically.

We saw Trump began his 2024 campaign rallies with the national anthem sung by the J6 choir—Jan 6 attackers who were in prison. The announcer at many rallies would tell the crowd, “Please rise for the horribly and unfairly treated January 6 hostages.”

This built to Trump pardoning on Day One of his second term every Jan 6 attacker—including those who brutally assaulted police officers. But Trump was not done given there were still pages he needed to copy from Hitler’s playbook.

As the Nazis burned books to erase the past, Trump’s DOJ just spent the past few weeks erasing the pages on the DOJ website that document the brutality of Trump supporters on Jan. 6. As Washington Post reports, one of the J6 attackers whose info has been deleted from the DOJ website includes a man who went to the Capitol with bear spray and is still facing an ongoing child solicitation case. And Trump’s DOJ is not denying they are deleting these records, instead telling the media they were “proud” to strip “DOJ’s website of partisan propaganda.”

The only item missing from Hitler’s playbook is Trump copying his “Reich Day of Mourning” to honor those involved in his Beer Hall Putsch. Thus, don’t be surprised if Trump announces before this anniversary of Jan. 6, his own national event to honor those who “suffered and sacrificed” for Trump during the attempted coup. Hitler would be so proud.

The entire GOP is complicit in Trump’s Nazification of the Jan. 6 attack. They could have stopped Trump by convicting him the Senate after he was impeached. And now GOP leaders in Congress could defund the DOJ and block Trump’s terrorist slush fund. Sure, we hear rumblings from a few Republicans, but we’ve heard that before and in the end they back down.

This is a glaring reminder that in order to save our Republic, we must politically destroy the GOP. There is no place in the United States for a party headed by a man following the playbook of Adolph Hitler.
