National Security Expert Joe Cirincione delivers the truth about Iran war that corporate media is afraid to say

Trump lost this war. Period.

U.S. corporate news media won’t tell you the truth about the Iran war but people like esteemed national security expert Joe Cirincione will. And that truth is Donald Trump lost this war. In fact, Cirincione put it this way in our conversation about Trump’s loss: “This is perhaps one of the greatest strategic defeats the U.S. has ever suffered.”

Cirincione then laid out bluntly facts that corporate media won’t dare say and that is Trump failed on every objective in this war. He ticked off Trump’s goals that weren’t achieved, “We didn’t liberate the Iranian people. We didn’t overthrow the regime. We didn’t destroy their missile force. U.S. intelligence says that 70% of their missile and drone capabilities are still intact.” He continued, “Worse, the regime is stronger now, held by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, that is more hard line than the government we overthrew.”

Cirincione—who advised three presidential campaigns including Barack Obama’s—warned that this war has embolden the Iranian leadership because it shows they can take attacks by both the United States and Israel yet still fire missiles and block the Strait of Hormuz. Indeed, on Wednesday morning, we saw the Iranian military respond to US missile strike by targeting the airport of our ally Kuwait by way a deadly drone strike that killed one and wounded nearly 20.

The long-time national security expert then noted yet another fact the corporate media won’t cover and that is the US suffered far more military losses than Trump has shared with the public. But thanks to great reporting by BBC--based on an extensive investigations utilizing satellite imagery and more—they reported that “Iran has damaged 20 US military sites since the start of the war…suggesting the attacks are more extensive than publicly acknowledged.”

The BBC continued that “Iran has targeted key facilities across eight countries in the Middle East since the end of February, causing millions of dollars of damage to state-of the-art air defense systems, refueling aircraft and radars.”

Examples of the destruction the BBC confirmed include three state-of-the-art anti-ballistic missile batteries that cost in the area of $1 billion. Also Iran destroyed an E-3 Sentry surveillance plane—which costs $700 million—and damaged or destroyed at least 42 US aircraft including F-15 and F-35 fighter jets, 24 MQ-9 Reaper drones and an A-10 attack plane.

BBC experts warn that given the US still not being able to replenish defensive missile systems, if the “US-Iranian ceasefire breakdown and fighting resume, the existing damage to US bases suggests that facilities across the Gulf could be vulnerable.”

Have you heard corporate media report at length about those military losses our military suffered?! Did you hear our media report that just a few days ago Iranian missiles were launched at a US military base in Kuwait that resulted in injuries to various US service members and in $60 million in damage to MQ-9 Reaper aircraft and other US military assets?!

Did you know that the costs for the war are now in the area of $100 billion per Mark Zandi of Moody’s? Or that high gas prices are costing the average American household $750 since war began—eclipsing the average tax refund?

But we can be certain the Iranian leaders know about all of this. That is why as Cirincione explained there is not even the prospect of an Iranian nuclear deal in the near term. The Iranian leaders won’t make the concessions Trump wants because as Cirincione explained “they are the ones holding the cards.”

Complicating matters is that Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu has moved troops further north into Lebanon—now occupying more than 20% of that nation. While Netanyahu publicly claims this is all about defeating Hezbollah, Cirincione explained that in reality the right-wing forces in Netanyahu’s cabinet have made it clear their goal is to expand the borders of Israel to include a large chunk of Lebanon. “This is a long-term, far-right goal, and this is what they mean by, when you go to the Bible, there’s some discussions about Greater Israel,” he explained.

Trump’s failure to execute a successful war or reach a peace deal will have a real-world impact on our nation’s reputation for decades to come per Cirincione. “The U.S. has lost credibility, not just on a global stage, but it’s lost with specific audiences, particularly the Europeans who Trump did not consult in advance of the war,” he noted.

But Trump doesn’t care. In fact, he literally told a CNBC reporter on Monday about the peace talks, “I really don’t care. I couldn’t care less.” Trump then added this jaw dropping line about the negotiations, they “started to get very boring.”

Rather Trump is focused on his ballroom and big UFC fight on the lawn of the White House to celebrate his 80th birthday like a modern gladiator games!

In normal times, we would see a media that would press the Trump regime for answers on the legal basis for this illegal war, the costs, the military assets destroyed, Trump and Pete Hegseth’s ineptness, etc. But either the media is captured by right wing oligarchs or the executives fear Trump will send the DOJ or FCC after them for pressing too hard. In either case we need to look elsewhere for the truth on every issue.
