Kimmel wasn’t suspended for a joke about Kirk-he was suspended for mocking Trump.
Time for a boycott!!
The same corporate media helping Donald Trump silence dissent, wants you to believe that Jimmy Kimmel was suspended “over his Charlie Kirk comments.” That’s a lie. The joke that angered MAGA world did not include any barbs or attacks on Kirk in any way. Rather the joke was mocking Trump.
But in the wake of the death of Kirk, Trump’s regime has seized on an opportunity to silence one of Trump’s most longstanding comedic critics in Jimmy Kimmel. And ABC/Disney was all too happy to help Trump achieve his fascist dreams at the expense of our freedoms.
The joke Kimmel told on his show Monday that triggered MAGA world from podcasters to the NY Post began, “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.” (This joke was one day before prosecutors finally released more info about the shooter.)
Kimmel then mocked Trump's bizarre response to the fatal shooting on Friday—which I also played on my show given the jarring nature of it. When asked by a reporter how he was "holding up," Trump had said, "I think very good," before then quickly adding, “And by the way, right there you see all the trucks. They just started construction of the new ballroom for the White House.” An excited Trump then bragged that the new ballroom was “gonna be a beauty. It'll be an absolutely magnificent structure.”
Kimmel used that reaction for the joke, saying about Trump, "He's at the fourth stage of grief, construction.” He added to big laughs, “This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend. This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish." (See joke below)
As you can see and hear, Kimmel made zero remarks mocking Kirk. In fact, after Kirk was murdered last week, Kimmel made a plea that we stop the “angry finger pointing’ and ‘agree it’s horrible and monstrous to shoot another human?” Kimmel added, “On behalf of my family, we send love to the Kirks” and to all families “who fall victim to senseless gun violence.”
But MAGA has seen the same reports we have that anyone who said anything they didn’t approve of about Kirk was being fired. In fact, Republicans from JD Vance to the Secretary of Transportation and members of Congress were leading the charge to fire any who dared to say anything about Kirk other than praise—as I wrote about.
That is when Trump’s FCC chair Brendan Carr jumped into the fray on Wednesday demanding ABC suspend Kimmel or face the wrath of the Trump regime. Carr—one of the architects of Project 2025—while appearing on a very pro-MAGA show hosted by Benny Johnson, commented on Kimmel’s joke that it was furthering a narrative that Kirk’s killer was part of MAGA.
Carr then warned ABC that they must punish Kimmel--suggesting even a “suspension”–or the FCC will need to pursue “remedies.” That is when Carr declared like he’s the freedom of speech sheriff, “We can do this the easy way or the hard way,” saying ABC must take “action on Kimmel or there’s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.”
There was no subtlety there. This was Trump’s regime top official on broadcasting demanding the suspension of Kimmel or the FCC will come for ABC/Disney. After that, we first heard from Nexstar media group they would be pulling Kimmel from their ABC stations. What you may not have heard is that Nexstar is in the midst of seeking an FCC approval for a merger with Tegna, a major broadcast group, that will require the FCC to waive rules on limiting how much of the country one company can reach with its over-the-air signal.
But then ABC--within hours of Carr’s demand for Kimmel to be suspended--complied. In response, Trump celebrated the silencing of another comedian who had long mocked the thin-skinned pathetic Trump. The convicted felon masquerading as a President wrote, “Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED.” He continued by expressing joy that Stephen Colbert was also cancelled and then demanded NBC cancel Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers, writing in all caps: “Do it NBC!!!”
What kind of American president would cheer the firing of a comedian from and call for other networks to follow suit? A wannabe dictator like Trump—that is who.
When I was a full-time comedian, I often performed in the Middle East in nations headed by dictators. And in every one of those countries, the rule was, “No jokes about the leader.” Trump is cut from that cloth. He doesn’t want you laughing at him, he wants you fearing him.
In the case of Kimmel, Trump has been slamming him for more than a decade because his jokes have gotten under his thin, orange skin. In fact, we learned in 2021 that during Trump’s first term, Trump directed his staff to complain to ABC parent company Disney about the Kimmel’s jokes. This is the same Trump who in his first term publicly demanded “Saturday Night Live” be cancelled and investigated for mocking him.
But in this second term, Trump is laser focused on retribution and has surrounded himself with people like FCC chair Carr who are all too happy to make this happen. That is what we saw here.
FCC commissioner Ana Gomez—a Democrat—rightfully called Carr’s actions out for what they truly are, writing: “An inexcusable act of political violence by one disturbed individual must never be exploited as justification for broader censorship and control.” She continued, “This Administration is increasingly using the weight of government power to suppress lawful expression.” Gomez then urged, “We must stand firm against every attempt to silence dissent, punish satirists and government critics, and erode individual liberty.”
Trump and MAGA did not get Kimmel suspended for a joke. They got Kimmell suspended for a show of power. They are sending the message to stick to their approved MAGA script or they will come for you. It’s also why we see Trump on down in MAGA world cheering the suspension of Kimmel –with this headline summing it up well: “MAGA Pundits Revel in ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ Suspension.” They don’t believe in free speech, they believe in control.
But we need to stand up to make it clear we won’t accept this aspiring fascist BS. And we can easily do that by boycotting any and all who support Trump’s agenda. In fact, last night, as news of Kimmel’s suspension broke, I was hosting my nightly radio show. Listeners immediately called the show demanding a boycott of all ABC/Disney shows, cable channels like Hulu, theme parks, etc.
They're 100% right. We have the power. It's time to use it. Do NOT support those who empower Trump's fascist dreams!
As I keep writing, alone the fascists will win. But by sticking together, we will prevail in this war to save our nation.

Yes, he was talking about the Republicans reaction to Charlie Kirk’s death and how they were exploiting it
He used a clip of Donald Trump being asked by a reporter. How is he doing with the death of his good friend Charlie Kirk?
And Trump went OK and then turned to his right and started talking about his magnificent ballroom .
The clip said it all
Jimmy Kimmel’s comment was about empathy for a friend’s death.
He humiliated Donald Trump is what happened
Brendon Carr went on the air and said Jimmy Kimmel’s behavior was disgusting!!
Except it was the opposite .
His removal comes because of the pending merger for Nextstar to acquire Tegna for 6.2 billion
Jimmy Kimmel spoke the truth when he told about what was going on in his country and he was brave to do it .
Just like Stephen Colbert
Exactly. Trump couldn’t care less about Charlie Kirk. They asked him about his Kirk feelings and he started talking about construction. The guy is a ruthless criminal and sociopath. The big fat baby was only concerned about his image. Unless something drastic happens, the only entertainment will be lies, propaganda, conspiracy theories and forced MAGA talking points.
