Another day, another corporate media outlet fails us in the time of Donald Trump. This time it was CBS and its lawyers who pressured Stephen Colbert not to air an interview of Democratic candidate James Talarico—who is one of the candidates seeking the Democratic nomination for US Senate in Texas. And all of this was to please Trump!
As Colbert put it on his show Monday night, “Let’s just call this what it is: Donald Trump’s administration wants to silence anyone who says anything bad about Trump on TV, because all Trump does is watch TV, OK? He’s like a toddler with too much screen time. He gets cranky and then drops a load in his diaper.”
I spoke to legal expert Katie Phang about this latest example of corporate media BS. And as always, Katie put it perfectly saying CBS’s decision “was all about bottom line and not about the law, not about doing what’s right.” She added, “it’s profits over people.”
That is the same mentality that led to major law firms surrendering to Trump as Katie detailed in her latest must read Substack article, “The Bill Has Come Due” which inlcuded an Open Letter to the Big Law Firms that Bent the Knee to Trump.
We also discussed the Epstein cover up-and that is what it is. The hope—as Katie and I discussed—is that Pam Bondi and the other lawyers involved at least get disbarred. They have earned that!
Hope you check out our entire conversation!
