Glenn Kirschner on the Epstein files released today: Trump's lies are "consciousness of guilt"

There is no one better to break down the legal issues surrounding the release of the new Jeffrey Epstein documents than former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner. I spoke to Glenn today shortly after the documents were released. There is just so much to unpack. But one thing is clear: Trump knew what Jeffrey Epstein was up to with Ghislaine Maxwell.

That was evident from Jeffrey Epstein’s email dated Jan 31, 2019 to author Michael Wolff when he wrote about Trump: “Of course he knew about the girls as he asked ghislaine to stop.” As we discussed, this is also backed up by other Epstein victims—including a 14 year old child. Below is the headline from the time of the Maxwell’s 2021 federal criminal trial informing us of that:

The women testified under oath that in the mid-1990’s, Epstein took her to meet Trump at Mar-a-Lago when she was just 14. In other words, Epstein was showing off his new 14 year-old “girlfriend” to Trump. In a potentially related development, she also testified that a few years later she was a contestant in Trump’s Miss Teen USA beauty pageant.

In addition, House Republicans—yes, Republicans—confirmed that Trump was at Epstein’s house when teenage victim Virginia Giuffre was there. That was prompted with the release this morning of an email that Epstein wrote to Maxwell: “I want you to realize that that dog that hasn’t barked is trump [sic]. [Victim] spent hours at my house with him ,, [sic] he has never once been mentioned.”

Since the victim’s name was redacted, the House GOP told the press that the victim was Virginia Giuffre—thinking that would help Trump because she had in the past said Trump did nothing wrong to her. But Giuffre had testified that Epstein not only compelled her to engage in sex acts at 16—he had peddled her out to other men including Prince Andrew for sex. Now the Republicans just confirmed that Giuffre-who was a teenager at the time—was in Epstein’s house with Trump for hours. So a teenager being in the house with Epstein—who was then in his mid-40’s—was no big deal to Trump. The reason as Glenn noted was because Trump had likely seen this many times in the past.

There are many other angles to this story that Glenn highlighted and analyzed that demand far more attention!
