Actor Ron Perlman on Trump’s future: “He's headed to a very bad, dark place.”

Joy Reid, Rep. Dan Goldman, Luis Miranda, Jr and more share thoughts

With only a few days left until the end of voting, I spoke to a cross section of people this week about their thoughts on what they thought would we see with the election results and beyond including MSNBC’s Joy Reid, actor Ron Perlman, Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY), activist Luis Miranda, Jr. and some great comedians.

All feel that VP Harris will win—with the biggest reason being the early voting data shows female voters are coming out to cast a ballot more than 10 points higher than men. But still all had concerns—and we should, too. This will be a very close election. There is still time to vote if you haven’t. And please urge everyone in your contact list to vote by November 5. (Unless of course if the person is a Trump supporter!)

One of the most entertaining discussions was with award-winning actor Ron Perlman, who you know from starring in everything from the “Hellboy” movies to FX’s “Sons of Anarchy” and more.  Ron never holds back. One example was when I asked him how does Donald Trump handle his loss in this race.  Ron responded bluntly, “Who gives a f*ck!” He then added, “He's headed to a very bad dark place, Bro. And however that plays out, we've seen this movie before who gives a fuck what he does.”

Ron’s point was that we’ve given Trump far too much oxygen over the past ten years, so let’s defeat him and let the legal system handle the convicted felon from there.  You can watch my interview bellow:

MNSBC’s Joy Reid in our chat laid out a three-prong strategy for what she expected Trump to do after losing the election.  She first noted that we should expect Trump to declare he won before the ballots are counted. From there, she sees three potential approaches by Trump to overturn the will of the people if it’s very close election:

1.        Supreme Court hands Trump election like in Bush v. Gore. Joy explained, “It's so close that they can litigate the election back to [Supreme Court Chief Justice] John Roberts, because they know John Roberts will deliver the election.”

2.        12^th Amendment: If the GOP still controls the House, they will try to throw out votes so that Harris does not have the 270 Electoral votes needed to be President. The result will be the House then picks the President—in accordance with the 12^th Amendment--with each state delegating holding one vote.

3.        Another Jan 6^th type attack: As Joy explained, “The 3rd way is, you just do another Jan. 6th and just have straight up outright political violence, and to try to force the election into chaos to where people aren't really sure who is the winner.” She added, “That is the Maduro style of becoming President. That is literally what Maduro did in Venezuela.” But she noted, “It's highly unlikely that there are enough angry young, you know, mainly white, but some black and brown fascist to get him in office.”

Joy didn’t lay these out because she thinks Trump will succeed but to be warn what to possibly expect. Thankfully, since Trump is out of power it’s much harder for him to get in if he loses than to remain in office like Nicolas Maduro did in Venezuela.

Others I spoke to this week include Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) who was cautiously optimistic that given the energy he saw campaigning over the weekend in Pennsylvania that Harris would prevail. But he did share his concerns if Trump wins that he would follow up with his pledge to target political critics including Goldman himself:
